GMC concept

Beat me to it....

And honestly anyone that thinks theyre gonna call anything not solid front axle an "offroad specialty package" is retarded and needs to learn what vehicles actually need to do offroad. The power wagon is the only real fullsize wheel from the factory. The raptor is suppose to be a desert truck, its IFS is understandable but its by no means powerwagon competition.

Those are really two different animals (apples and oranges). It's not meant to compete with the PowerWagon because they're built for different purposes.

Personally I'm trying to build mine to be an all around truck. Jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one; would be the best way to put it. A Polymathic truck would even be the best reference :D

I just saw that thing at the Detroit autoshow on Sunday. It struck me solely as a concept when I saw it, I don't expect it to be produced, but it would be cool.

It sits pretty high and looks real tough. The "composite" (plastic crap) underbody skidplates look kind of worthless though, I see them getting busted to pieces in a real offroad environment, and catching a bunch of debris.

The shocks and air bumps are sweet, the proudly displayed the Fox reserviors in the wheel wheels above and behind the tires.

The rear suspension had some fancy billet aluminum mounts that I couldn't really see because of all the plastic skidplates.

And that Duramax is a sweet towing engine, but if they ever did produce it, it would add a LOT of cost to the truck vs the 6.2L engine they could have as an option as well.

Anyway, just thought I would post up since I saw it in person.

Overall the autoshow was kind of dissapointing. Not much that new really. Checked out the CTS-Vs (awesome), the ZR1 (was there before anway but now you could touch it, still couldn't sit in it), the new Camaros you could sit in and fondle. But they always have the hood releases disabled.

I think some of the coolest parts of the autoshows are all the different engines with all the cross sections cutout so you can see the internals. Those are interesting, don't usually take apart brand new engines.

Well I gotta admit, this looked a lot more producable than the Terradyne does.

agreed... the terradyne was the contractors dream... built in mega generator for job sites.. tool storage in bed.. extendable bed... but still take family out to a nice dinner...

I wouldn't be too surprised to see a watered down version of this truck come into production. Obviously a concept truck meant for the show circuit is going to be a lot more extravagent than a production based vehicle.

While I like solid front axles there really isn't any issue with using IFS for the target market. For the type of "off road" a $50k+ truck is most likely to see it does just fine. Not like a lot of people are going to buy one and run the Rubicon. Besides, how many Raptors, Power Wagons, or Jeep Rubicons on the road are actually put to use versus being a mall crawler? The Rubicons have been around the longest and are by far the most adundant, and I bet 80% of the ones around here have never seen more than a snowy driveway (and that's including the few I actually see built up as trail rigs and used).
