Seeing as how this got bumped ...
I used to own one of those trucks. I found one which had 5,500 miles on it (yes, really) which was as clean as the day it came off the showroom floor. I paid $24,500 for it.
Technically they have the 4.3L V6 that was turbocharge and air-to-water intercooled, with the Astro van AWD system. It was rated at 250 hp and 350 ft/lbs. I had mine dyno'd and it was closer to 350/hp and 450 ft/lbs. 0-60 times were around 4.3 seconds in my truck.
The first time I took it to the track I was talking to some guy who I was lined up with a 1990-something Corvette. He had done tons of mods, basically everything except cracking the block. Intake, exhaust, ECM, you name it. I told him my truck was stock. We raced and I ran that 12.9 and left him standing at the starting line. I tried to talk to him afterwards but he walked away. Guess he was pissed he spent so much money on a slow car and got smoked by my little SUV.
That truck was one of the fastest vehicles I have ever driven. I used to street race it and absolutely nothing touched it, not even the Porsche 911 - until we hit 100 mph and then drag limited me and he would pass me. I'd buy another one if I had a big garage and lots of money. The non-black or white trucks are worth the most. If you can find a green, red, or blue one you have something special (assuming it's OEM).
The coolest part about that truck was launching it. You'd stand on the brake as hard as you could and press down the gas to build boost. There was so much power and torque that the truck would start to lean over to the right. Then BOTH left tires would start to push through the brakes and jerkily spin on the pavement. I'd always be sure to line up on the right side of whoever I was racing so I could see the look on their face. Seeing the Typhoon breaking free on BOTH wheels was so very cool.
When I let go of the brake, I would usually be across the intersection before they were across the crosswalk. Needless to say I never bothered going much faster after that and would have to wait for whoever it was to catch up so we could laugh and chat.
Ah, to be young and foolish and flush with cash again!
