What is the going rate for a GM front Dana 60 in your area? Several years ago I picked up a dana 60 from a 1 ton dually. I had to convert the front hubs. I got it for $500 and at the time thought I was paying to much. I ended up getting it off of craigslist. I had been trying the pick an pulls but they would be pulled on the 1 ton quick.

I got a hi-pinion Ford 60 front on a trade...value going the other way was approx $500.

15 years ago I gave $1200 for a low mile Chevy D60 front with 4.56's (low mile M1028 pull out)

It depends a lot on where you're at. I hear a lot of guys back east and in the mid west can find them for $5-800 pretty easily but out here on the west coast you're really lucky to find one that doesn't need a bunch of work for under a grand while most people are asking $1200-1400...

Geared and locked ready to bolt in with a crossover arm 1000.00

Stock take out axles around 3-400.00 complete

78-79 ford axles are 1000.00ish for a stock take out

88-91 kingpins are 200.00 is balljoint 60's about the same.

Super duty axles can very from 200.00 to 1000.00 ( becoming a popular swap axle for the jeep crowd )

AAM 9.25 fronts are also becoming popular for SAS swaps and are going for around 1500.00 for a take out when you can find them

Here in the southeast dually 60's start around $600 and go up from there, a stock axle will top out around $1200 on the high side.

This doesn't include axles that have been regeared, locked, etc.

A buddy and I just sold a 60/14 set out of a running driving SRW 85 K30 for $1100. They did have factory 4.56 gears. Only took 2 weeks for them to sell. I figure the D60 was about $900 of that.

The irony is we bought the entire truck for $1200 with a rebuilt 454 and TH400 trans that we're keeping for our own rigs.

Of all the places, I got mine off ebay. It was listed for $850 and located in Oklahoma. I didn't bid on it at the time and saw it relisted for $750 with a buy it now tag so I bought it. It came from a low mileage 1986 M1031 5/4 ton military Contact truck. It had 4:56 gears and a track lock. I met the seller about half way which was a 2 hour drive. Compared to other prices that people want, I'd say I got one heck of a deal.

About the same but top out around $1400 here. Now you see why I don't have one yet!

you guys should try the north east rust belt .

drw 60 pull out from rusted apart truck I got $550 for it year ago .

tried to sell a srw I went all threw and did new tube seals cleaned / repacked bearings / upgraded NON neck down spicer shafts with spicer joints and didn't sell at $900 . . . . so its under my project plow machine and waiting to get torn apart and swap the open carrier for a eaton E-locker unit.

its hit and miss up hear . south and west still pull the BIG bucks.

heck I have a builder 60 with all the main parts even good set of 4.10 gears for it . . . no bites .

Well we all know how this thread is going to end, with everyone telling of their great deal that no one else will ever find.

Found my DRW 60 in a junkyard. $69

:D

I think your point is, yes, there are deals out there. My buddy bought a whole K30 truck as a roller for 100, with no engine and transmission.

But as a standard a gm Dana 60 is a 1,000 bucks no matter where you are at in the country.

Big offroad scene means higher price. here they are 800-1200 stock pull out.

I have three right now I'm waiting to sell when people have money again in the new year.

East coast has them MUCH cheaper than out west. Paid 1400 for mine - had to ship it from KS.

Bottom line is GM/dodge passenger drop 60's are not worth What they once were. With the availability of aftermarket axles, and other options like the 36" pad ford axle And the super duty axles . Jeep and buggy builders don't need or want a low pinion axle .

It's gotten to the point up here that 60's are so cheap that you can't even give away the Dana 44/10-bolts after a swap .

People can have a warped sense of value on things. I have a crashed 1985 K30 Dually with a 454, T400/205, Dana-60 front, and a Dana-70 rear. People will not even pay me $1000 for the whole thing, but if I took out the front Dana-60 and listed for $1000 they would buy it.

That is why I would probably take my old GM 1-Ton drive-train, and build an entire running vehicle out of it than sell it as parts. Since the average person has no idea how to make a running vehicle out of parts, they see more value in an entire running vehicle than the parts alone, and I can make an easier sale out of it.

Not many guys up here are doing the swap thing , crew cabs make awesome rigs up here so most guys just build them. Burbs are popular as well , but it's been a few years since I have seen someone build/wheel a K5

Building a 1-Ton Burb is something I was thinking of maybe doing with my 1-Ton gear.
