Going S10 Hybrid!

Actually made some very good progress this last week. Even tho I got sent away for 5 days unexpectedly!

The truck runs and is driveable, although not too far too fast yet!
I am working on the steering shaft today, it need extended about 6". The front quarters are on, and cut leaving a 7.5" gap. Im getting the 8" out of another S-10 I have sitting here.
The wiring is all installed in the cab from the K5... minus about 20 lbs of useless wires. I have a dash sittin g in temporarily till I figure out what Im going to build for a dash. All my lights work, although I have a small ground issue with the pass side front signal/ park lites.
Now for lots of small finish stuff on the front end, battery tray, overflow jug, light lenses, hood hinges and hood, as well as patch the quarter panels with the filler section.
Its getting to look good actually!
I am uploading some pics... dial-up tho so be patient. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, I will post the link to the pics in a bit. Check back.

Looking sweet! I should have photos in my webshots monday.

Hiya folks!
Well, I have finished wiring and building the dash. I used a chunk of 1/8" aluminum from a diamond plate running board for the dash. Its just straight across, nothing fancy, but the guages are installed and working. I am calling the interior done, except for the finishing touches... at least interior wise its driveable.
Next on the list is to separate the outer skins from the 1/4 panel sections and weld them in to close the gaps, then weld in the inner fenders and wheel tubs. Shouldnt take more than a day. I only have a couple hours a night to work on it this week.
Then i am going to start remodelling the rear end... relocating the gas tank, relocating the rear winch, cutting the frame down, and building the roll bar/ tire mount/ storage box, then i can install my fancy new LED tail lights!
i am also installing 220V wiring into my garage so when she is ready, my buddy can bring his big MIG setup out and weld my body mounts etc.
Anyways, thats my progress.
Later
Mike

New progress report
Front end is done... needs some bondo to smooth things over, but the front fenders are lengthened 7.5". The hood is installed with a 7.5" chunk of a spare hood filling in the gap at the windshield, with lengthened hood hinges that are a combo of two S-10 hinge sets.
The entire front grill and light set is installed and working.
I cut the stock box down to 46", and mounted it to the frame. The original tailgate will still fit with the S-10 lights.
It needs pulled off once more to mount the gas tank, then its back on for good.
I dug out an old chevy stepside roll bar and cut it down to fit in the box, so will be mounting that in after that. Then the tire mount, and some sort of a tool box, prolly just inside the tailgate.
Im starting to see the end! Now that Im off work for two weeks, it should be driveable by the weekend, then trail ready by the first of the year!
I cant wait! I will post some pics later this week.
