Going to get a D60 in the juknyard

It was actually 270 bucks :angry1:

They nickle and dimed me

But I got it home

It has 3.73 gears

I'm currently on 3.07's with the 40's and it has plenty of pep,I was surprised when I found I had 3.07's,I even counted the teeth myself

I'm gonna build the burban up with a big block and then steal the tires of the howdiymobile

You still got a deal.

Now when you go to freshen it up those nickles and dimes will go to $5s and $10s:haha:.

All the yards in San Diego know what they are worth and strip them before they get put on the lot.

How much did you think it would be?? I know the prices are all over the place. I know of a free CUCV frame with the D60/14BFF/Detroit, but haven't had a way to go retrieve it yet. :(

You're not gonna let it go are ya?? I wouldn't. I bet someone here that lives close might be able to help ya out. Wish i lived a little closer. I'd help ya out and for the tow i'd just ask for a ride later when you're finished :D

If it's still there when I'm able, I may rent or borrow a trailer and get it.

Jim (bigjbear) showed me where a local scrap yard was. We dropped an old parts K5 that he had when I borrowed his trailer. I'll need to be able to use that scrapyard. This CUCV has both axles, the frame, cab, tranny, t-case, and I believe bed...

I won't need 90% of it, and I'll have to dispose of it quick. My yard isn't big enough to keep that beast around, and city ordinance states I can only have 3 cars based on the square footage of my house. I already have 3 here (K5, DD Saab, G/F's Yukon XL)...

You guys live a dream world to even get them for $300 bucks. In heaven d60s must cost $100 . It costs $800-$1000 down here. I would pick up two or three for that price.

The Pick N Pull I was at today knows the value of the D60. I asked the manager there about them and he basically just laughed at me. He told me that when a truck with a front D60 comes in regardless of the make of the truck, they pluck the D60 from it before it goes into the yard. The staff there have first dibs at it and if none of the staff get it, then its put up for sale.

Hey Howdily, I remember you were in FL but dont remember where....PM me if they had any more.

I've got a way... where is it? :ears:

I know it's in downtown ATL. The exact location, not sure... A friend of mine who's in the Army says it's off the books and it's just scrap. The dude that runs the 'yard' wants it gone. I'd have to have my friend with me to go get it--if it's still there and I didn't wait to long. :doah:

Edit: Oh yeah, the front wheels are gone, so it's resting on the D60. I think maybe a couple of brake parts are missing up front too. It was basically stripped for parts then moved aside.

you dont need it, let me just go with your friend and pick it up. D60's are old news anyhow. you want rockwells. :D

LOL... Uh huh... :D

I don't *need* 1 tons... I don't plan on doing anything that'll require it. I'll never run tires big enough to need it, but I'd like to have the added insurance, just in case.

I was at a gas station once and another K5 owner came up and we chatted for a bit. He said he had 1 tons under his, with no lift at all, and stock (31") tires. I guess he just wanted the added strength...

Honestly, the D60 will probably be commodity for trading...I'll either trade or sell it to further fund the build. I'd probably do some cleanup / rebuilding of it just to make it more valuable.

The 14BFF would be nice, but again, probably overkill. It may fetch a few hundred since it's got the 4.56's and Detroit in it...who knows. I was thinking about getting a 14BSF for out back, but if I already had the FF, there'd be no point. I'd clean it, rebuild it, possibly regear it, and 'disc it. :D

tell you what, You give me the d60 and the 14bolt and i'll sell you real cheap insurance that you're not gonna break the axles you have now on the street. Lets say... you only have to pay me $20 a month. Cheap insurance and you wont have to do any work!!!
