Took a road trip to Oregon yesterday and found this truck by dumb luck. 7.3L powerstroke, 5 speed, and only 122K miles. Should be driving it home on Tuesday after the paperwork is complete with the bank.

Yes, it is a short box. Would have been nice if it was a long bed though. Then, I could have used the canopy I put on the dually with this truck as well.

What year is that?
It looks like it has standard hubs on front. If its 2005 or later, watch out. Warn has come up with their latest version of "automatic" hubs and sold them to Ford in time for the 2005 version.

I just pulled out a friend with a 2005 F250 with auto hubs. Turns out that they are not all that reliable.
However, Warn did make them so that they have a manual option. But, if you don't use it from time to time, the knob freezes up and breaks when you force it.

My friend's left front did not engage and the knob was frozen. Fortunately he did not force it, so we will pull the hub and free the knob later.

This latest attempt uses vacuum to engage the hubs. There is a vacuum pulse solenoid, a fairly fragile vacuum line going into the back side of the spindle, plus a couple of seals that can go bad and stop it from engaging.

One of the seals, naturally the one to go bad the most often, requires you to remove the entire spindle to replace it.

Your truck looks like it has the old style hubs though.

This one is a 1996. I did not mess with the hubs, but it sounds like a good thing to service this weekend as soon as I have it home.

The f 250 should be the Dana 50 ttb front with normal lockouts from what I've seen on friends trucks. Not to say autos aren't around. Just can't remember seeing them.

Man that's a nice looking truck. My dad has the same exact one, color and all, except its a CC and automatic. Before I bought my Silverado I was looking for something like that.

my absolute favorite ford body style. my old company truck was a '96 F250 with a 7.3. besides the fact that it rode like **** (leaf sprung TTB) it was a good truck.

This one definitely needs a new set of shocks. But, I think it rides very nice for a truck.
