on the crapper...
Who makes a good cheap pan for a 700R4 that has a drain plug? Don't need extra capacity or cooling fins (adding capacity and cooling another way) - but wouldn't say no to it for a good price. Just want a good pan with a drain plug so it isn't such a mess to drop the pan.

Alternatively, anybody had luck with adding a drain plug to a stock pan?

That looks like a great deal - and a little flat black paint will cure the only bad part!

Not for long. I`d spray some zinc chromate on there before the flat black, as it`s likely to not stick, or stay on there for long.

Thanks for the tip. I think I have some primer with zinc chromate in it - or do you mean something else?

Chrome don't get you home, all it does it leaks. I welded a 3/4" piece of steel to the side of my pan and then drilled and tapped it for 1/2" NPT. Works perfect and don't leak.

No welder :mad::doah::(

Then take it to your nearest muffler shop and have them weld it on for you. I forgot to mention that this is for my tranny temp guage but doubles as a drain hole once i remove the sender. :thumb:

Looks like the drain plug kit could also be used to mount a temp sender for a gage, as long as the sender is 1/8 NPT.

Is the pan the prefered spot to measure tranny fluid temp?

Drill and tap.

Ummm, No. It's sheet metal. If It was me, I would go to a honda dealer, and get a transmission drain plug from them. They are really nice, and are 3/8" square drive (Yes, the ratchet/extention goes right into the bolt), then go to a hardware store and get the proper nut for the thread on it. Pull your pan, clean it up, and drill a hole, and clean around the whole to bare metal. Most exhaust shops will weld it up for next to nothing (If not nothing!) if they dont have to do any prep work. Weld the nut on the inside for the cleanest install, but either side would work fine.

Example of the plug...

Install went smooth so far. I say so far because I havent put fluid in it yet. It IS deeper than the stock pan despite what the auction says.

Edit: I'm an idiot, the auction said deeper than stock.
