I picked up a 1977 K5 Blazer 2WD with a good running 305, Manual Trans, Locking rear end with 3:73 gears. Straight body. No top (didn't want it). I gave $500 for it and drove it 2 hours home. The body has no rust that I can find and it runs too good to be true. All original, never modified or upgraded. I have an 84 K5 4x4 as well but this seemed too good to pass up. So what do you think, good deal or no? I've always has TH400's. How do I know what transmission I've got? Its a 3 speed with a low gear, or granny gear as I've heard it called.

From what i've heard a 2wd with a manual trans would have been an SM420, someone will chime in if i'm wrong on that.

If I'm not mistaken it should be a 10 spline SM465 as I think they quit putting the SM 420 transmissions into trucks in 72ish? I could be wrong and someone may have swapped a SM420 in but I'd be willing to bet its a SM465. My 420 has very steep granny gear ratio while my buddy has a less steep SM465. On a side note if it matters all my SM420's have a single bend shifter while i've noticed that the SM465 tend to have two bend shifters.

If you decide it wasn't a good deal, I'll drive to Abilene with $500 and take it off your hands. :D
