anyone have stock specs for a GM Goodwrench 350 crate motor? circa 1981 with 4 barrel Q-jet carb. hp & torque @ rpms? I heard it was slightly higher than the regular 350 (which isn't saying much :wink1:)

The current one , the entry level crate is 260 hp ( WITH 4 BBL AND HEADERS ) . Gonna be close on the old one , its a simple flat tappet hydraulic cammed motor compatible with many smog years .

Next step up is 290 hp , then you start getting into better hp numbers series above that .

There are 2 basic ones...

The 290hp with 330ft/lbs and the 260hp with 350 ft/lbs. You can buy both from Jegs with Manifold, carb, dress-up kit and HEI shipped for like 1400 i think.

I already have one - the previous owner had the 305 removed and a Goodwrench 350 motor was swapped-in by the dealer back in the 80's. I was just looking for more info on the older ones.........

I see, well all i can say is that i did alot of looking around at GM Goodwrench crate motors before i bought mine and the 2 basic models are the ones i mentioned in above post. Then again...this was recently, not the 80's. I guess if you look for cast numbers you might be able to look it up.

I want to say my 91 stock GM 350 is under 200hp, like 190hp. So i doubt a crate from the early 80's would be more than that.

The Goodwrench engines are rated at the flywheel with headers with no accessories or smog hooked up= SAE gross HP

Your stock 91 is rated with all accessories, emissions, and stock exhaust= SAE NET HP
That is why the HP numbers seem low. If the TBI engines were rated SAE Gross they would be well over 250 hp.
The stock 73-86 350s in trucks were only rated at 175 SAE net HP.

The GM Goodwrench replacement TBI 350 is rated at 210HP and 300lb-ft at the flywheel

There are 2 LO5 TBI motors. The 210 hp 2 bolt main in cars and 1/2 ton trucks
and the HD 190 hp 4 bolt main in 3/4 and1 ton trucks. Most C/K2500 have the 190 Hp
Goodwrench makes both types.

That makes a lot of sense to me. My 94 k1500 motor seemed to like to rev a lot more, and more more higher RPM HP.

The motor in the 91 3/4 ton burb hates to rev.
