i just bought a 4inch lift and might need new tires soon does anyone have the Goodyear Wrangler R/T II? they seem to be relatively cheap because of surplus just wondering if their good tires.

These are ok. They do develop flat spots(they bias not radial) and if the sit for extended periods of time they split dow the grooves between the tread blocks(this might have been due to the high temps and low humidity of Texas). They wear ok and have alright traction. Nothing spectacular, but ok if you are just using them on the trail/mud.

And make sure you get a wide enough rim or they'll look like donuts and wear just down the center

Ive got 9.75s on mine and they need to be a bit wider

I prefer the military 37" Goodyear Radials over the 36" Bias. They are a little harder to find but a nicer tire all around.

Funny considering they were made to go on the HMMWV's 16.5x9.75 wheels.

They're also notorious for not being round and therefore very HARD to balance. I had a set and am glad I got rid of them but they worked well enough for a year. Pounds of weight on each tire and they only vibbed past 55mph but my truck wasn't happy there at any rate.

If you get a deal they aren't bad but I'd try like hell to find some Swampers or other large offroad tires first. $300 for a used set of Swampers practically beats these for $300 new.

No ****...I should have known that. At any rate that's even NARROWER!

I had mine on some stock GM 16.5x6.25's.:D

Been a civilian for almost 7 years now...haven't touched a HMMWV in a while.

9.75 is still to narrow why do you think they wear out of round on the hmmwv's too:rolleyes: even with runnin 25 psi they still donut!

pics worth a 1000 words:rolleyes: this is at 25 with a 9.75 rim

What? Out of round is not a wear pattern... its a quality issue with the manufacturer. Flat spotting is caused from parking a vehicle with bias ply tires, and those 36" tires should be run with 25-30 psi on the street unless you plan to run at max capacity.

35psi is regs cold

The other side is worse they wear just down the center because the rim is two narrow ill see if i can find a pic

35 PSI is MAXIMUM air pressure for MAXIMUM loading. They wear out the center because they are aired up to much for the amount of weight sitting on the tire. It is not uncommon to run 20 psi on the street on larger oversized tires on a lighter vehicle.

Yes I know thats how I finished off my last set:doah:

Ive been running these at 25 since ive got them, and the are still doing it. thats why I think it needs a wider rim:D

The tires are only 12.5" wide so 9.75" wide wheels are recommended by most tire manufacturers for that width tire. Your pic shows tires that look very well proportioned. It would be a lot cheaper to drop your tire pressure to 22 PSI for a while and see how you do. If you do any offroad driving a narrower wheel has many advantages.
