Alright, here goes-

I have a trailer now that is a retired Ryder car hauler. The K5 fits alright on it and tows great behind my tow rig (the one in my sig). The problem is early this spring the Blazer is going up a few inches and wider a few inches. The 37" Iroks rub the crap out of the sides of the trailer but fit inside with a little squeezing. I am looking at getting a new trailer. My question is- Should I go with a Gooseneck or a "bumper pull" type deck over- both would have a deck length of about 25-30 feet. I've never towed a goosenck, but have pulled a bunch of BIG conventional trailers (32' race haulers, dump trailers etc.) Any opinions would be great.

My question would be: how big do you want to go with the new trailer? If you're only going 16-20ft, I'd stick with a deck-over pull trailer. If you're going to go bigger, I'd start looking at gooseneck options. That's just my opinion. I have an 18' 10k lb Carson (bumper-pull) for the trucks and 32' 5th wheel toyhauler for the quads and family. I'm keeping my Carson and cutting out the inner portion of the fenders for clearance, since I don't want to spend the money on a new deck-over. That's your other option, and there are pics of that sort of thing here in the tow section.:D

I must of edited the post while you were posting:doah::wink1: Sorry. I'm looking at 25-30 ft deck length. I thought about modifying my current trailer, but I find myself bringing more and more crap with me on wheeling trips. I borrowed a buddies 30 ft bumper pull and pulled the blazer, 2 quads, a cr250 and all my camping stuff and the truck pulled it amazingly well. So well I realized I am quickly outgrowing my previous race car hauler. Also I am looking at newer used trailers (wife would crap a kitten if I spent the $ on a new one.)

I vote for a 40' gooseneck, that way my rig will fit right behind yours :p:

Then that brings up the question on where would I stuff a 50' trailer..... hmm maybe at the in laws store in Kittery!!!!!!

Take down the tree in the front yard, plenty of room along the side of the house

On a more serious note, I'd definietly make sure this trailer will incorporate any more future changes, ie. rig gets even bigger

Well, for a 25'-30' length, I would definitely go gooseneck and deckover. If you are going big enough to haul extra rigs, be sure to charge enough delivery fees to pay for the extra hassle of a ginormous trailer.:D

.....you mean like a pop up trailer mounted in front of the Blazer on the trailer....teehee..... saw it on Xtreme 4x4 and thought it was a killer idea!!!

I thought that was a cool idea, too. I've seen a couple with campers mounted on the front of a gooseneck trailer, too. They had the back door open onto the trailer deck.

Goosneck hands down they Pull so much better and are easier to back up plus if you get a big enough one you can put a cabover camper over the goosneck and the blazer behind it!!

That's exactly what I was talking about, it comes out really cool and multifunctional. And if you need the whole bed, just take the camper off.:waytogo:

I would go gooseneck deckover trailer. At a minimum go 20' plus the 5' dovetail with folding ramps and 14K rated. This is what I did and it works great for me. If I was to do it over again and had a bigger yard for storage I would have gone maybe 30' (25+5) and 21K rated. Just shop around for used ones. Most of them will be 20K rated and 30' (25+5) it was harder finding a 20+5 gooseneck because there is not as many made. But I had to have it a certain size to fit on the side yard with the other 4 trailers I have.

Im usin a deckover tag-a-long.
