So I have the 1990 k5 all original and an 02 3/4 tone with 6.0 LQ4, 4l80e, nv263, 14bolt ff with discs & 4.10s. Ive been DD the donor for a while but the only reason I bought it was to one day steal its organs and I just got a new DD :D . I have searched and read allot, I know this is a big undertaking. and I'm gonna need some help here and there.

Going to go with a 4" lift maybe a 1" body probably move the front axle forward a little 33 or 35's leaning towards 33's I want to DD when its done and I don't want to trim. I'm not going to wheel it to hard, but i want to know she will never let me down.
Just going to throw some questions and thoughts out there (reserch is ongoing)

This is going give me a pretty short rear drive shaft should I keep the 263? ill have to get a driver drop front axel(10bolts gotta go anyway) what axel should i chose? Is driver drop going to give me other problems (clearance to drag-link).
Will i need CV's I want some of those fancy orbitEyes from alcan and swaybar disconnects will that flex enough to require CV's :doah: so many more questions? so much reserch

Think im going to stick with the 263. It's manual shift and seems to hold up well. I'll be looking for a driver drop D60.

The NV263 has slip yokes front and rear, it's not a good choice for a lifted truck. Plus that would require finding a 77-79 Ford D60 which are difficult to find and usually expensive.

I would consider replacing the t-case with a different one based on which axle you can come up with, there are a bunch of options for transfer cases.

Im not opposed to getting a different case but it would be nice to use what I already have bolted on. From what I read the slips were exceptionally long on 263's. I don't really like them but I have read some people don't have any problems with them.

Why not just keep the 241 that's in the blazer now? I beat my 241 extremely hard for a few years with 35's. I broke the case when I high centered really hard coming down from a wheelie, but I wouldn't hesitate to run another one.

It's already busted. I need to find out what will match up with my 4l80 and make a list of all the options.

241s a slip yoke to did you run an eliminator

Ordered my first part :woot: 4l80e to np241 adapter 45$ shipped. Going to look at a 241 this weekend for 175$

Thinking about leaving the slip yoke for now at least... I know "do it right; do it once". maybe ill leave that decision until closer to the end, I've got allot of other stuff I can get done... err $ to spend. If i get the big ticket stuff out of the way ill feel better about spending the money on the eliminator

Ill stay with the 10-bolt front, if I cant find an 8-lug ill look into converting it. should handle 35's with mild wheeling. right? I read the 6 vs 8-lug are basically the same, and the D44's only having a slightly larger axle than the corporate 10 bolts.

I wheeled mine with the slip yoke but my shocks kept it from traveling enough to come out. I ran my front 10 bolt pretty hard to. I only broke 1 shaft at the u joint. If your open up front then its not really that bad on them. I used to do 3000 rpm clutch dumps in the mud with my 10 bolt lol

couple pics, When i get all my ducks in a row and figure out exactly what im doing ill start a build thread

That was an awesome trip, 45 minute trail ride to the camp site for almost 2 weeks! good people make the experience. Ill miss the old truck... for a little
