The truck in question is an 84 chevy k10 swb. So far is has a six inch lift with blocks in the rear, ten bolt axles with 4.10 gearing, 305,700r4,np208.
1) In the future I would like to run crossover steering would it be cheaper/easier to convert my ten bolt or just buy a dana 44?

2) Some point I would like to run 35's or 36's possibly 38's and swap to a 3/4 ton rear. Would a sf 14 bolt work or should I get a ff?

3) I would like to clock the transfer case for more clearance, what extra mods are necessary? I am considering a 1 or 2 inch body lift at least to clear the body. How bad of a front driveshaft angle am I looking at?

4) What would be an ideal gearing, 4.11 or 4.56? The end usage would be about 50/50 mix of mud/trails and street driving.

5) What can be done to the 700r4 to beef it up?

6) For the motor would buying a crate engine like this one: http://sdparts.com/details/gm-goodwrench-replacement-engines/12531687
or rebuilding a 350 from a 91 chevy one ton. I am thinking the crate would be a better way to go though.

definently upgrade the axles, i would go ahead & get the 14 bff for the rear. you might be ok w/ a 44 front, it depends on how hard you are on it.

take the lift blocks out of the rear & get a shackle flip. the six inch should clear all the tires you listed w/ a little trimming.

as of the crate motor, JMO, i would get a 350 but thats me. good luck w/ the rest, i'm sure someone else will chime in. :D
