got another truck, 85 chevy 1 ton- slight build-up - new engine

sorry for hijacking but i have the newer one with the -2 and it still hesitates and stumbles any idea's i tried turning it and nothing really helped

yeah I posted somewhere in one of my posts.. maybe even in this thread...

you need to buy the holley .35 discharge nozzle
http://www.holley.com/121-135.asp

and you need this too
http://www.holley.com/20-12.asp

some people went with the Pink one I believe as it is almost the biggest pump cam but holley recommened the black one for me.. he said it was the biggest one...

I havent had my truck running since feb which is when I got it inspected.. dont remember how well it ran... but gonna work on the truck this weekend some... so I will let you know... I dont remember if the hessitation is 100% gone... but I can tell you this... at wide open throttle I dont notice it :wink1:

reviving an old thread. got rid of the big ugly tube bumper. built a hidden winch mount using some of the existing one from the tube bumper and made a stock bumper fit. also added some tow hooks and trimmed off some rust.

Looks like a 3/4 ton truck with the D60 swapped into it.

Rear u-bolts look round bend with threads pointing up.

Front springs, at the shackle end, bottom of frame isn't as low as a true K30 is. The bottom of a K30 frame is around at or a little below the spring eye bolt/bushing at the bottom shackle.

Check the VIN. Also, does the truck have hydroboost or vacuum boost?

Oh yeah, the very first pic at the top shows shocks outboard of the frame rails. K30's have them mounted inboard.

You definitely have a K20 with the D60 swapped in.

ha ha. thanks for telling me. i've had this tuck for a year now. check the date on the first post.

i was just showing the hidden winch receiver and tow hooks added.

it is a 85, 3/4 ton, originally a diesel with swapped in 14bff and d60.

someone stole my engine!!! :D

took out my engine to get a little work done to it. started out as rebuild what was needed, check everything, then add aluminum heads, new cam, intake. it was already a 383 with vortec heads, ect. then my engine builder found this, when he pulled the pan . (not the can)

apparently the pickup tube and strainer fell out, and got smashed by the crank. not sure when it happened. my last mud bogg race was in october and i only ran it about 2 hours since then all winter.

so it got a complete bottom end rebuild. the crank was still good. it got new pistons, H-beam rods, all new bearings thoughout, edelboc aluminum heads. it's gonna be about 11:1 compression, rebalanced. it was 9.9:1 before. new intake, new carb, roller cam, and some other stuff. i'll have a complete list when i get it back, probably next week.

my first mud race is 5-9-10, so i'll be busy. i've been working on the front suspension this past week. finally putting on parts i've been collecting for a year. got 6" tc springs put on, x-over steeering, new engine x-member. going thru the d60 tonight and tomorrow.

once i get the engine back in, i'll redo the rear suspension, gonna put a shackle flip on and take out some leaves and the blocks. hopefully get a traction bar put on too.

Dang. How did that not affect the oil pressure? You would think it would drop to nothing.

got my engine back today. heard it running yesterday at the builders. . went to summit racing yesterday and got some more stuff. taylor wires, 4k stall TCI convertor, higher rev limiter chips for my msd. my first race is next sunday 5-9-10, gonna be a busy week.

Nice! Hood clearance looks like it might be a little tight. Does the motor have much low end, or is it a high rpm screamer?

the hood barely fits. i do need to trim off the filter bolt though. all the components were for 3k -6k rmp range. i put in a 4k convertor.

I think it looks like crap... You should put it out with the trash and give your address.. I will be there in the morning to take it off of your hands..:D:D What I am trying to say is, I like your truck.
