well, first things first. i bought a built rig. don't crucify me too bad. i figured i could not build a truck for what i could buy this one for. it will also save me lots of time, i was in the process of starting the build of almost the identical truck. so, here it is. it's gonna be used to tow my other woods truck (when it gets started and finished ) some very, very light wheeling, recovery truck if all the other ones are broke where we wheel, and spanking rice cars. sorry for the crappy pics, was raining last nite when we got home with it. will get some better ones today.

it's got a built 383 engine with vortec heads, 9.9:1 compression, comp cam, intake, headers, dual exhaust, serpentine belt setup, msd ignition, vortec starter. th400 tranny with a full manual reverse valve body, you have to drive it like a stick, but no clutch or letting off. np203 t-case, with no part time kit, so it's 3 wheel drive all the time. 1-ton axles, d60 and 14 bolt FF, 4.56 gears, detroit locker in the rear. q78-16 super swamper tires with 3/4 tread, 4" lift. some other stuff i forgot already. deer killer front bumper, with receiver. 85 body and 3/4 ton frame.

needs a little work. hood painted, little bit of body work. everything works in the cab. it was a manual truck at one time, and we will probably put a manual back in it at a later time. needs a rear bumper, i have one or maybe make a new one. needs a small hole in the frame patched.

he gave me receipts for 3k of engine work done in 2003, about 20 k miles on it. he had the axles regeared and locker installed.

the best part, should be able to get it inspected easily, it was also a diesel at one time, so that's what it's registered as.

now i can cut up the crew cab to start the woods truck re-build. i already cut up the blue 3/4 ton i bought awhile back also. just need to cut up the previous woods truck frame. my house looks like the start of a chevy junkyard.

very nice. As far as the rear bumper goes, I would suggest building one if it's going to be a recovery truck.

Looks a little high in the back. Whats the scoop on that?

If you want a tough cheap bumper for the rear the military rear bumpers are pretty beefy

got some new pics. and a question. it has a holley truck avenger carb on it. the early model 0-90670-1. it doesn't start or run at low rpm very well. any quick suggestions? i have a newer model -2 TA carb i think i'm gonna mount on it, becasue it ran great on a 350 previously.

i forget why but the older model carbs suck. I believe you can trade it in for a the newer model. Do a search on the truck avenger, there is a TON of tech info on it here.

Where exactly can you get these bumpers? I've been looking for a cheap beefy bumper for my Blazer.

Anyway, nice find dude. Looks like a good start, he got most of the hard work done for you it looks like.

talk about customer service. talked to holley and i'm sending my old carb in for an exchange of a new one. all i have to pay is shipping for mine to them.

for future reference for anyone wondering there truck weight. this one weighs 5400lb. with a half tank of gas. i just read that someone's blazer weighed about 7k? better get it checked rather then estimated.

removed the sway bar this weekend. and found out it will not run on 87 octane gas. speedometer works but is .1 off on every mile and at 65 mph on the gauge it says 60.

also put the np203 part time 4wd kit in. i use the superwinch brand kit. the directions are kinda out of order but they work. put on a new used bumper on the rear to replace the bent up one.

the only thing with the truck avenger is this...

1. buy .35 discharge nozzles - think that is what they are..
2. buy the pump cam kit.... I used the biggest one.. black one....

now you have a 383...
well is the 670cfm good enough?????
i dont know..

but i will tell you this... I LOVE MY HOLLEY TA!!!!!!!!

How can u tell if u have a older or newer truck advenger, because i got one for free from a friend and it doesnt idle right on my 350 and i tried tuning it and everything.

when you pull the air fliter off. look straight at the carb from the front. there should be some numbers stamped into it. if it has a -1 it's an older one.

sorry for hijacking but i have the newer one with the -2 and it still hesitates and stumbles any idea's i tried turning it and nothing really helped
