Got any cool tools lately?

I guess I didn’t phrase it correctly. The alignment ramps/runways were originally mated to the Forward 2 post lift towers. Supposedly it was called a Hunter L-201. Searching for that gets pictures of the same basic set up for sale over the last 10 years or so. No actual information and all of them seem to have different lift towers set ups.

My thinking is that it was a step up from the old, old Hunter alignment racks that were basically just really long ramps. Then they had the long ramps that leveled. I think my hybrid lift came along next and then the massive 4 post lifts or scissor lifts you see everywhere today came along.

Forward started in business in 1968. Hunter developed the digital camera alignment system in use today around 1996-1998. The digital camera with targets eliminated the need for the turn plates to have turning angle gauges. My lift has turn plates with the angle gauges. So, it is probably no newer than 1995 and probably no older than 1980 or so. I just know every single part is massively heavy and very thick steel.

I did read the whole post. But I still have never seen ramps on 2 post lifts.
Now that explains it better it is part of the system but they look exactly like the hunter ramps for alignment at my friend's tire shop.
I guess enough people asked for the combination so they made it an option

I found out my snow blower fuel knob got broke off somewhere along the line.

So I came up with this little doohickey. :waytogo: IMG_20251207_124336717_MP.jpgIMG_20251207_124343670_MP.jpgIMG_20251207_124354325_HDR.jpg

Classifies as a tool I guess lol

Of course it’s a tool. That is a fuel shut off valve control unit.

I went from 0 lifts in my possession to 2 in a little more than 3 weeks. I found a used 4 post that is exactly the right dimensions for my limited space. No manufacturer names or markings anywhere. No instructions and it wobbles. But, it goes up to 6’8” on the underside of the runways, works and will stiffen up when I anchor it to the floor once I figure out exactly where it needs to sit. I was able to pick it up yesterday and shoe horn it into my shop.

No castors either. A M1009 at idle in low range will gently push a 4 post lift across a concrete floor with pretty good directional control I found out.

If anyone has any ideas of who might have made this please shout it out.

all about the same more or less . just the color and whos name on it . its a basic stacker lift more for storage or light work . and yes bolt to floor will make it a bit better .

It has a carriage jack channel you could add to that lift

I don’t see the channel, that one has a lip for drip trays. I’ve had both versions and the channel for the sliding jack crossmember is shaped like a “U” and much thicker material.

@Barrman that lift looks a lot like one my father has. They offered them in custom colors. I’ll get the name off it when I’m at his shop next.

Thanks for that. I put my Mini on it today for some weight to stretch everything out. Then adjusted the cables as level as I could and then used shims to plumb the 4 post. Doing those two things made it rock steady. I am not able to get any movement when I push on a post now. I even had my wife run it all the way up with me on top and my 230 pounds couldn’t make it shake. I deem it good enough to keep the Mini off the floor and hold a bunch of other stuff out of my way. I don’t see a need for bolting it down now. IMG_5762.jpeg

We don’t bolt them down, they’re fine as long as the ground is flat and solid.

The company noted on the lift is Cytech aka doublepark.net out of Wichita Kansas. I don’t think they’re around anymore.

I have an industrial sand blaster that I picked up from work as they were getting rid of it but its too big for my work space, so I picked this one up this weekend on sale.

also the shelving rack behind it for more organization in the shop. Spent most of yesterday re-organizing and still have 1/4 of the shop to touch
