Picked it up Wednesday night. 2000 f350 with the 7.3 I've already had a chance to put a couple hundred miles on it and love it. It bounces a little with no weight in it, but it's a leaf spring, lifted truck....just have to get used to it again. Pulled the blazer with it this weekend and WOW! I can't believe the difference from the old gas chevy. The Diesel doesn't even notice the truck/trailer back there.:thumb:

just found a 98 ford e-350 strech van for my farmer friend. its got a 7.3 turbo p/s in it also.

that think is the boom  he drove it home 2hr's and i could hardly get him out of it. its so nice to have a vehicle that has good power and mileage.

the 7.3 is #2 in my book over a 5.9 cummins.

good score and happy drivin. clean rig also. :thumb:

Be sure and check the turbo for lose bolts,my 01 had 1 bolt holdin the two turbo halfs together. It a common problem on the 99-01 models.:doah:
Will do.

I'm thinking there might be an injector on it's way out also(I planned for that ahead of time--moneywise). It idles like it has a "lumpy" cam in it and stumbles a little when you first step on the throttle, but once it's above 1700rpm it runs fine. I'm trying to read up on them before I just throw a whole new set of injectors in it, especially with the price.

You can get a set of 150hp sticks for around $1100.How long has it been since the oil was changed??? Lo or dirty oil will do that to em.The inj are fired by oil pressure so its important that they have good, clean oil in em.The 96 F350 I had before this one had 392K on it and was still bein drove everyday.I hope to get at least that much out of this one.Get your Vin# and call ford and see if it has had the CPS replaced under a recall. That is one of the main things that go out on em.My 96 had three of em and my 01 has had one replaced under recall.

Thanks for the tips, I'm a total diesel NEEEEEEEEEEEWB
I wanted to have the oil changed and the tranny fluid changed now so that I know it's been done and I can start keeping track without worrying about what the PO did.

what's CPS stand for?

Something else I just remebered is that Ford used a "dual mass" flywheel for a while (I know my 96 had one) and would sound lopey when it started goin bad.I'm not sure how long they used that flywheel but its a $600 deal if you have to change it.

Well depends on who you ask,it goes thru the timing cover just above and to the left of the harmonic balancer so most call it a crank position sensor, but if you go to the parts stores they have no listing for a "crank position sensor" but do have a"cam postion sensor" which is the very same sensor.

Whats with the whole lifted tow rig craze goin on. Dont make a half bit of sense to me. Sweet rig though :D.

For me, oil pan/crossmember to front diff clearance and clearance for bigger tires to keep the RPM's down for the motor (Cummins). 4" lift, 37's.

The lift doesn't help much otherwise but that's what you need to fit that motor in an older K30. Plus the highest you can go with a D60/14 bolt is 3.73 (there isn't a higher ratio that matches) so bigger tires are a big plus with a diesel, even with overdrive.

just had a friend that works for a local dealership run all the info on the truck for me. Turns out it never got the cam position senor recall fixed or the speed sensor modification or something like that. Either way It's going in tomorrow for the updates and recall stuff. The Cam sensor may be the root of my problems, but I'll have them check on the stutter while it's there. Hopefully it's still covered under recall and I won't get the shaft for the repairs.

in my experience cam sensors will simply kill the engine and not let it start again. ive never seen one fail intermittently or partially. those are damn good trucks man, congrats!

Congrats, hope she runs good for a long time for you.

My 96 would shut off goin down the road but would always start back, well except that one time.:doah: The second one that went bad just killed it dead.

I've got an 01, great truck. Love it almost as much as my 84 Chevy, almost. Check out powerstroke.org/forum/ lots of info on there.
