Enjoy getting the original carraige body bolts that are welded to the tub off. Can be a giant PITA but with the work.

Yea, I've heard about people with different amounts of trouble on those. GM didn't seem very consistant in how they attached them.

For some reason mine were only spot welded to the tub and just a little "tag" with a cutoff wheel on the angle grinder took all mine off. My biggest problem was getting the nut off the bottom on the rusted bolt. Most all of them broke the bolt or spun spotwelds off the head of the bolt.

So, make sure to remove the nuts before cutting the spotwelds otherwise you'll round out the square holes for the carriage bolts if the nut seizes.

Brian is right

Couple nibbles with the cut-off wheel and a good whack and they are off.

I put everything together into stacks and then bound the stacks with tape and #'d them so I had everything I needed right there when I needed it.

Many times during my rebuild I have been super happy with the decision to add an ORD 1" body lift at the same time. More room and space around tranny dist and transfercase, makes wiring, fuel lines and Gas tank stuff way easier.

Have fun!

Nuts off, most twisted off and cut the rest, one other thing does the radiator have to come out to access the core mounts?

Thanks for help.

I just loosened it up and pushed it to the side a couple inches, but I didn't have a fan and shroud to deal with.

Get somewhat organized, do one side at a time, and work from front to back.

Half day.

How much does a 1" body lift mess up bumper / body relationship? (:tongue1: obviously 1", but would like your thoughts)

about this much

In the front it brings the lip and the bumper right about even. I threw an extra washer behind it and it seems to be fine. In back it's noticeable if you know what your looking at but, looks alright.

I have no idea how it affects fuel, brake lines, or ground straps and stuff cause I redid all that in the process.

Without it I couldn't have routed the fuel filler the way I did (Brian's idea) and it just made life easier on a lot of projects.

I like that washington license plate. I still have me Tahoe licensed up there and have a WA drivers license. One beauty of the military, i can live in NC for almost 7 years and still register my stuff in other states and completely bi-pass any sort of inspection stuff.
