Got my second mustang today

Looks just like one that was on Craigslist here in town. Down to the fog light covers and wheels. Seemed like the miles were a little high but the price was great. Considered looking at it for a driver. Where did you get it?

The guy lived in Irving, he didn't even have a price. It just said trade for bike. It does need a few things, but I am very happy to have it!

Where's the point in an automatic muscle car? :dunno:

I resent that statement. Not that this counts but slap shift is WAY more suited for a go fast straight line muscle car. And lets not even get into the fact that its not a true muscle car its a pony/sports car...

Technicality...

I'm not arguing that the manual can be shifted faster, I'm arguing that it should be a notch out of his man card. I dare you to sit there and tell me that a slush box is more fun than rowing gears yourself. You sound like a car salesman I had trying to tell me that paddle shifters are just like driving a manual :haha:

75% of drag races with drivers of equal talent the automatic will win every time. Same with truck pulls as well. The majority of consistent first place truck pull winners (any class, from street to mod) is autos. The torque converter more than makes up for the lack of a clutch.

An automatic (properly functioning) will outshift/never miss shift/never skip shift compared to a human. Fact. It will shift exactly at the edge of the powerband, every time, and not miss a beat, every single time.

Another fact is manuals are going the way of the dinosaur, maybe not today, but I would bet in 10yrs. Diesels have done away with them, and regular cars are not far behind. Most of this is due to the fact that the average person is to stupid to drive a stick (), and in all reality they are inconvenient plus the gas mileage savings of yesteryear are down the toilet as well.

Do I hate them, no. I would love an 70 Charger/Challenger/Cuda/Chevelle/Super Bee/GTX Stage 2/Cutlass/Firebird/442/ect with a 4 speed. But realistically, I would pimp any one of those with a 3 speed slushbox all day.

That being said, sticks do have their advantages and I will admit that any day. But for me (personally), the only thing useful they do is keep my dumpster from blowing away in a tornado.

i agree. I understand that auto's are faster blah blah. But manuals are more fun in a classic/muscle car/hotrod. A new mustang is none of those however :haha:

Haha im a ford hater, but to each his own and im sure its way more fun than anything i got going :thumb:

On The topic of the car though it really does nothing for me. My ex boss had just bought a 2013 GT500 before I left, now that was a Rustang...

My brother has something similar, rims are the same style but half the shiny pieces. Black on black though.

As far as manual over auto, depending on where you live, a manual just isn't very practical either. EX: SanFran hills or LA traffic. A friend of mine has an 05 Stang with a standard. I quote "nope, not again". :) At least, not in a DD

I just enjoy a manual more. Feel more connected to the mechanicals. I can't argue that the autos are more consistent, better for hilly areas, etc but I think it's a shame that they're becoming harder to find.

Like I said, MY personal preference is a manual. It can make even a 4 cyl 2wd pickup a little more fun to drive.

EDIT: More towards the spirit of the thread - Mustangs aren't my thing, but it's a good looking car. Enjoy.

Those are nice cars. Ive been debating one of the newer eco boost 6cyl ones with a 6 speed for a DD.

I'd like to be clear that I'm not knocking the OP's car, its pretty badass looking, I'm knocking the transmission. I was never arguing that a stick could shift faster or more precisely than an auto but I'm willing to bet that he didn't buy it for bracket racing. That being said autos still feel a disconnected from the driving experience. This is why we buy muscle cars (pony cars, POS, or whatever you wanna call it) for the driving experience, becoming one with the road. An auto can't anticipate what gear you want to be in to handle the road ahead so when you punch that electric throttle, it has to sit there and think about what gear it should be in before it goes. That is not being connected to the road, and not a fun driving experience. Manual transmission FTW

Oh and I have a 1999 mustang gt 5-SPEED! lol. I buy and sell cars off craigslist and trade a lot, this was more of an investment. I personally like the 5-speed more:rolleyes: But this stang is pretty suite! I love my 5-speed and wouldn't trade it for the world, but it is nice not to worry about traffic in this one, and an auto will kick a 5-speeds ass on the highway all day. From a dig, not so much:D
