Got my second mustang today

I'd like to be clear that I'm not knocking the OP's car, its pretty badass looking, I'm knocking the transmission. I was never arguing that a stick could shift faster or more precisely than an auto but I'm willing to bet that he didn't buy it for bracket racing. That being said autos still feel a disconnected from the driving experience. This is why we buy muscle cars (pony cars, POS, or whatever you wanna call it) for the driving experience, becoming one with the road. An auto can't anticipate what gear you want to be in to handle the road ahead so when you punch that electric throttle, it has to sit there and think about what gear it should be in before it goes. That is not being connected to the road, and not a fun driving experience. Manual transmission FTW
And drive by wire makes you feel connected to the road?
anti lock brakes makes you feel connected to the road?

I agree there are a lot of fun things about a stick, but breaking trans tailshafts, syncronizers, input shaft, blowing up clutches ( I mean blowing, not just burning one), missing a gear trying to powershift, breaking the ring and pinion are some of the reasons I don't have but two left in my fleet. (although I do still have all the parts to put the Vette back to stock)

Full manual shift auto is a fun option.

Just my 2cents:
I think the Stang looks cool!

Regarding trans preference though,
I have driven stick since I was a kid and do enjoy it.

Given the choice I went full manual reverse shift pattern on the Sub and it is absolutely the most fun and enjoyable driver I have ever owned.
I use an Art Carr gated shifter so it has all the feel of a stick but no clutch pedal or associated parts to deal with.

My wife on the other hand runs an NV4500 in the PW and would not want an auto for any reason.

Everyone has a preference/opinion, but hard to say what is the ultimate..??:dunno:

I think the intended useage is a factor also. Myself, for a cruiser muscle car... say a 70 Chevelle, would definitly be a 4 speed. If I was building some serious power to run a 10 second quarter, TH400, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Unless you are building an all out drag car, automatics are for women.
