got new seats tonight :)

nah anything is possible...buckets just add an extra element and the sub...well....lets not go here.

Back to the seats :)

its a good thing your threads don't die otherwise I would have forgotten about the pics I promised. here they are. very simple and very effective. they are 2 different heights but line up perfect. you can throw a straight edge across them and they are all in line. no leaning to one side.

So the seats, looks like a good score, ill get a pic of mine tomorrow, i think there out of the middle row of a suburban (thats what the P/O said) and it's a split bench

Tom

the ever popular 60/40 split bench that gm used in everything would be my guess...lets see those pics!

measure the bottom of your seats and I will see if these style brackets will work. most likely they won't since GM designed the seats you bought to all mount independently. mine you just drop a bolt through the bottom of the slider track and bolt it to something. they are out of a 1980 fiat spider, my first car.

yeah I was thinking about it and once I get the time to get these mounted (after I get this damn electrical issue taken care of) I was wondering why I couldn't just bolt the seats straight to the floor?

Just drill new holes and bolt them down...the feet that are attached to the sliders are about 3" tall so there would be room to get a wrench in there and just bolt them straight to the floor.

it doesn't take long to take the bench out. yank it and set one of them in there and see if its high enough. my geuss is going to be no. the truck they came out of is designed so your legs are more straight in front of you then a fullsize.

these are actually about the same height as my bench seat is...thats something I thought about before I got them so I checked before I bought them.

Well you work at some type of a machine shop or something if I remember correctly right? If you do then you can just machine yourself some brackets or spacers or whatever to make it work.

yeah I know this just isn't high up on my priority list right now.

I'd like it to be but I can't justify spending time and money on cosmetic/comfort items when I've got some electrical problem with my alternator so this weekend I'm going to get a new one put in and if that fixes the problem then I'll move on to the seats.

well since my truck is down for the weekend I figured I might as well get something accomplished. So I pulled out the bench seat and was a bit surprised at how uneven it is underneath it where the tranny tunnel is.
For some reason in my head I was thinking that it was fairly flat all the way across once it got back to the seats.
I set one of the new seats in there and they are waaaaay to tall so I'm going to go pull the feet of of them and see if that helps enough. I think I'm going to have to make some sort of bracket though.

From 4WD.com for the underside of your floor to bolt your seats down. The nut is 7/16-20.

I could just make that.

There is so much crap in the way underneath so I'm going to go dig around up underneath there and see what I can find.
