need ideas/suggestions for installing this-

My biggest concern is getting the best seal under the three boots, would like to keep the floorpan dry and rust free.
So how would you do this?

Its a Ranger Overdrive 27%. This will be primarily a tow rig, ditched the 700r4/208. I will be cutting out the tunnel and modifying to fit everything, just kinda stumped on keeping the elements out of the boots... maybe boots on the underside? I dunno :confused:
 
what about some long brush type material.

like a paint brush/ door bottom material that you put on all four sides around the hole.
would be enough to keep the bigger stuff from getting in, and the boot on the inside would be used to keep the rest out...?
 
I hear ya but I live in the rainy wet state and am looking for as tight a seal as I can get. If I had another set of boots I might be able to sandwhich the tunnel with them?

what about getting a piece of some type of cloth material that you can get enough of so that you can glue/adhere it to the shift shaft, and have the edges of it bonded to the body, but have enough slack that it moves freely thru all shifts?

like a wet suit material or somesuch nonsense.
 
Hmmm... wetsuit material. I've gotta an old 5mm suit I may be able to use. Thanks for that idea.
Forgot I had the boots to my doubler, maybe this would work also-

i was thining bout something like that cuz you can get replacement boots easily enough. just hve to make sure they seal up tight to the shaft and floor.
 
Hey Dustin, I've got some rubber matting that came out of the bus that might work on the floor with a slit in it and then the boot... It's thinner than the stuff we got from Kenny...

I also have your doubler in the Jimmy...

I'll give you a call in a bit...

Bummer the tranny hump doesn't unbolt on yours. Are you going to intall it all bolted together with the motor or try to use a trans jack? what rig is this going into?
 
I think that two boots should do the trick.

Use 3M weatherstrip adheasive to seal them to the floorpan and sticks.
 
Wow, now I've got to hunt down one of those Ranger boxes. Any more info on it? BTW I have almost that exact set up. 465,205 on an orange hoist with an GenIII on an orange engine stand. You don't happen to have a D60 and a D70HD on jack stands do you? :woot:

BTW now all you need to do is add a doubler and watch a valet try to park it.

Agreed, wish it did. The 396 goes in my 74, the tranny combo is going in my 88 burb so i'll be jacking it up in there.

The 60/70hd made it off the stands into my wheeler as is the doubler but that would be a riot :haha:. I have a bunch of orange stuff :doah:.

You need to come over and cut the tunnel out of the parts truck... I can have the boys throw all the crap inside it in to what's left of the bed...:D
