Damn you. I thought I was the only one with this crazy idea. I guess I'll one up and complete my doubler setup. Five sticks, none of them labelled. Noone will want to drive my rig, I can hear it now:" AHHH! WTFing HELL! How am I supposed to shift this thing?!"
Mine will get cut up next year. Was supposed to be this year, but funds ran short, so next spring the 90 Burb will go on the chopping block to breath a different life into the 88 Burb. More of a boob job than an organ transplant..........
. I may leave the shifter on the column to achieve 5 sticks of confusion (probably not). I hear the funds thing too, getting married next month...

Been married 12 years. Doesnt get any better.............
I meant the funds![]()

I meant to add this earlier but forgot
What I had to do with the 88 when I added the Ranger/465 combo was cut the entire tunnel section out from where the floor goes up to the firewall all the way back to between the bucket seats. I cut the sides just far enough to get a good flat spot on the downslope to the floor boards (I can do a visual in paint when I get home Wednesday if you'd like). After installing the OD/trans I fitted a new piece of sheetmetal over the top and formed it slightly higher (2wd truck with the lower trans hump) and made my new shifter holes in that.
I did this for two reasons: one was that there was already a hole from the 465 when it was installed w/o the OD, and two was for ease of access to the top of the OD/trans without having to drop them. Using a rubber sealing tape and plenty of sheetmetal screws it has sealed up well and minus the carpet being chopped up, you'd think it was stock. The sheetmetal I used was slightly thinner than the floorboards, but has held up well since it isnt used for any weight bearing activities.
I thought this might help you out.
Summit did just deliver my flywheel though.....
Haha I hear ya
That's kinda what I was thinking, great info and would totally appreciate the paint visual.
Thank you!
Like I said, I'll be back home Wednesday, so I'll take a few pics of the floor and use paint to show where my cuts were made. I might try to pull up the carpet so you can see exactly how the trans hump was done, but I think I have to remove the seats, so that might not happen......
! I certainly wouldn't expect you to remove your seats although it would be great to see.Which flywheel did you use? I emailed around and the Ram #1550 was the cheapest I could find that would bolt to the gen3 and use the old school clutch. Ram said it's drilled for both style clutches. A few other parts like a spacer, longer bolts, and special pilot bearing are needed.
Spacer GM 12563532
Ram flywheel #1550
Longer bolts GM 12563533
LS2 pilot bearing GM 12557583
Standard clutch for the SM465
That's what my research has concluded. The parts list is all theoretical.
) and will get back to my install asap and update...
. I will do the same thing and post up all the pics from start to finish. Off to see Dave Mathews at the Gorge today so i'll get started tomorrow if my head don't hurt to much
