IMG_5447.JPG So I have a disease with vehicles. I bought a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee off Craigslist for 300 bucks. They said it was overheating so they parked it. It's full power windows, doors, seats, Infinity stereo, leather... I figure meh, prolly head gasket or cracked head. 300 bucks, big deal right.
I justify this by telling myself I (need) something to take the kids to school in, go to 7-11, etc...They have two flatbed wreckers so they'll even deliver it to my driveway. Clean title, done deal.

IMG_5442.JPG I start digging into the engine and it aint good. Lol
There's rusty water in all the wrong places. It is locked up tighter than fort knox.

IMG_5461.JPG This might be where an intelligent person would cut bait and take a loss. Not me. I know what it costs to build an engine. I know what a crate engine costs. I'm thinking hey i'll see what I can find on craigslist.
Guy has a complete take out engine for 550 bucks.
No guarantee with that though. Hey look, a whole xj with no title for 300. I go get it. Its been sitting for years but I get it fired up. No knocking, good oil pressure, cool. I'll put this engine in the Grand and part it out and get my 300 back plus right? Wrong.
Somewhere in this timeframe of a couple weeks, I like this Grand to much to throw and old leaky worn out unknown engine in it. I'll just rebuild the original the right way. Damn i'm stupid, what is wrong with me? :dunno:

ATF and let it sit. Put back together with new gaskets and romp the crap out of it.
Oh, this ain't my first rodeo friend. I tried every method known to man trying to break it free. Once I dropped the pan and started removing rod caps I started thinking this is a joke right? I have all six rod caps off and all the mains loose and I still cant turn it. Swear to god. Someone, (P.O.) I think tried to fix it. It had new bearings in it and the thrust bearing was so tight, I had to pry the crank out of the block after the caps were off!

Now all that needs to happen is lift, axles, cut off the sheet metal and BBJ sticker and hit the trails..lol
Stop it. Right now. You and your evil thoughts. You know how hard it is to fight those demons. Everytime I find myself looking at long arm kits and lockers im like ****! STOP! You already have a bad to the bone locked up K5! DEMONS!

Lately I ve been looking at Jeeps (because of BBJ) then remember I had one and it was uncomfortable as shit. Soooo I've been looking for a single cab Diesel F250 to cut down to a short bed and this or that or keep it and do things to my ext cab Ford. etc etc. Also trying to resist the urge to make a deal for Fortify's link kit...... ahhhhh!. I have the sickness as well brother.

When I catch a break at work I'll swing by and bring your plate and shoot the breeze.

Yeah, I don't think Jeep had you in mind when they built em. Great for little guys like me and kids. Thankfully I havent been re-bitten by the go fast bug cause I would be all over steve at Fortify.

You should come out to the Pahrump race. My check is 14 miles North of Beatty. No chance of the go fast bug biting out there.:surepal:
I wonder if there's a discount for referring friends? lol

BITD Pahrump Nugget 250 Sat. Dec. 2 is race day.

Ok. If my schedule stays on track I should be free that weekend. I may come up.
