Grease gun

I got the M12 grease gun last year. I think you forget how much nicer it is than the old hand pump style because it so much easier. I just replaced all the front steering stuff in my C10 and after greasing all the new stuff I was thinking about how much more of a pain it would have been with the old hand pump gun.

Bought the proto with lock and lube. OMG. Never been so successful using a grease gun. Just need to get a 90* fitting for it

I’ve always locked the handle to the plunger to get a manual gun primed. Never had an issue with any mechanical gun when using this technique.

I now have the Lincoln battery powered.
It is perfect for me. I no longer dread greasing but instead run around looking for something to grease.

I just thought all these things were normal for grease guns and didn’t realize they worked like sh** as every single one I have used/owned they all work that way. Covered in grease, can’t attach to zerk/can’t get off of zerk fitting, keeps pushing grease even when not in use and slide pulled down/out, runs out of grease/magically has more grease, can’t hold onto it because it’s all greased up like a sports illustrated super model at a photo shoot, seems like more grease gets on the dam thing than in the zerk itself.

what technique is that? More detail please.
1. Remove top of grease gun.
2. Pull handle all the way back and point the open end at your buddy or the garbage can and release launching the empty tube towards the intended target.:haha:
3. Lock the plunger back with handle.
4. Remove the plastic cap and install the new tube.
5. Pull tab and remove metal seal.
6. Reinstall the top of the gun. It's best to have as much air out as possible before reinstalling the top of the gun onto the tube. I like to have the grease almost squishing out as I put the top on.
7. Release the T-handle then twist and lock it into the plunger (this only takes a 90 degree twist at most. It's best to look at it and fiddle with it while it's out so you can see how it works) so that it is fully extended and won't go in.
8. Press the T-handle against your thigh and hold 20-30 pounds of pressure against it while pumping to prime the the pumping mechanism.
9. After it is primed unlock the T-handle from the plunger and push it all the way in so it is out of the way.
10. If it ever stops pumping repeat step 8 but don't try to pull it all the way back. Just pull it until the lock on the rod gets to the plunger.

I still don’t think I understand how these plungers works. Gotta look at it empty and figure it out I guess. Didn’t realize the handle locked and unlocked from the plunger.

When I had mine apart, not all of mine locked.

Locking or not, i figured the plunger end was secured to the rod. So I always got confused when the rod retracted all the way. Thought i had pushed hte grease past the plunger, when in actuality, the plunger was just compressed behind hte grease.
