"Gredda's" Build / WTF / Help Me! Thread

so I will have 2 extra trans pan gaskets for the 700r4 since I bought the lubelocker one (trans pan comes with rubber one) AND the transmission filter I got came with one as well!

Anyone need one?

update!

dropped the stock trans pan, and replaced the filter in the 700r4. Also replaced the gasket with a lube locker. then replaced the pan with an aluminum one WITH A DRAIN PLUG!

Its the shiniest thing on the whole rig :D

so far, no leaks, but it hasnt really left the driveway.

I replaced about 6 qts of trans fluid. It seems just a tad low when I check....should I add? or you think its right. The fluid was warm, and my dipstick only has a HOT and COLD marking.....it was just under the HOT.

Next up...speedi sleeve and Tcase seal

well, I let it run for about 4 minutes, shifted into all gear, and reverse a few times...but thats as HOT as I can get it...its not street legal right now.

Pop the little rubber plug out of the backing plate and de-adjust the shoes and the drum will slide off. Just watch the toes!

So here is a pic of the back of the drum...what do I do?? loosen something? Its not coming off, and I can feel it catching on something.

Stick a big flat blade screwdriver in the slot on the right side of that pic. Turn in till it backs off the shoes so they'll clear the drum.

jimmy, which way? I see like a "gear" looking end on a bolt in the slot on the far right (about 3 oclock in that picture). I feel like I used the flat head to slowly rotate that gear thing, and not its even tighter and doesnt even spin. Is this right?

ALSO....I installed my new aluminum pan. I forgot to reuse the magnet from the stock pan...but it wouldnt stick to the aluminum one anyway right? should I have done something with it?

I'm not sure which way. Just try to move it. If it's stuck spray some pb blaster on it. I have the correct tool I could bring over if you like. And if that don't work drill out that little silver pin. That will let the shoes collapse inside the drum. That's what I had to do to mine. On the pan , mine stock one does not have a magnet so don't worry about it. Just do fluid change when you change your oil.

good eye!

Its a euro spec FZ1 (with some good ole american power upgrades :D)

I work for an online motorcycle accessories store - shameless plug - www.motovationusa.com - plug over - and I wanted something totally custom. So I ordered all the parts from Yamaha Europe and figured out how to convert it. Hell on wheels and stood out in a crowd. Thanks for noticing!!! Lots of time and money it in.

That's a cool looking bike and I don't know mucgh about them , but that front brake should have plenty of leverage to stop that front wheel:thumb: How big is that disc?

320mm and there is one on each side! I had added stainless steel lines, and CRG Roll-a-click levers....it would stop and well as it would accelerate.

Hate to have you come over for such a simple job. Let me see if I can get er done this evening....if not, I may need some help. Whatever I did, make it tighter.

Its just a matter of turning that "nut" on the inside of that small slot until the brakes stop pressing on the outside of the drum right?

correct.

That is much better looking than the half faired FZ1. I have a 2010 Z1000. The FZ1 was my second choice, but the Z won out. Do you have Fazer decals for it? I am moving to Germany next month, so I will be getting a chance to see all of those nice bikes they get in Europe but not here.

Ride safe.

I actually just recently sold it to pay for lasik surgery and a Vstrom...I miss the performance and the custom look, but I dont miss the near misses and and dangerous situations it forced me into

Now I am spending my time and effort on this blazer...even though there hasnt been much progress lately.

I just got home, gonna try and get this drum off.
