greese & grime

What did you guys use to clean the years of greese and grime build up on the bottom of your rigs? How did you clean them?

ummmm I replaced the floor pan and sub-frame and coated everything with rust bullet and rubberized undercoating. BUT if I had a good solid floor pan to start with I would of used a sandblaster....I'm to lazy to spray degreaser and wipe it all away.

I guess what i am asking is what kind of degreesor would be recamended to use to get the best results?

I just use whatever is on sale at the parts store. Usually seems to be the Gunk brand.

Mean Green from the dollar store.

If i ever have to degrease anything I will use the "Gunk brand". It works good.....most likely just as good as all the others.

this may sound stupid but can you powerwash that crap off?

would that be to much force of concentrated water in one spot to cause damage?

Would you do it if tht water could get inplaces that could cause problems or is that not even and option of happening?

like what? i pressure wash the whole rig and just avoid the air cleaner.
my truck is spotless

If the floor pan is rotted or wires are exposed (which they shouldn't be) I wouldn't do it.

Im not sure and not to knowledgeable of what could happen with water damage, i just thought that with that kind of pressure and spraying things such ans steering linkage axles, differentials and high enough to clean trani, oil pan lower block area, will this idea still work?

ohhhh yeah I forgot that car washes have a sparyer that does the undercarriage.

Im not saying that this is a bad idea just asking questions to be more knowledgeable in the future, I am just wondering... also are car washes as power ful and fucused as a hand power washer?

I would say that a rain storm and a power sprayer spraying up inot the under part of the car on components is a tad differnt wouldnt you say and im still not disagreeing that it will work just putting it all in focus thats all.

yeah, same diiference, but i forsee no problems in pressure washing

Well I will put it to you this way every few weeks during the winter then every few months during the summer I will take my blazer to a wash it yourself car wash and spray the undercarriage with a high pressure wound. Nothing bad has happend......I will let everything cool down before I hit it with water. I cracked a spacer on my old F-250 because I hit it with COLD water when the engine was HOT. I only did that once hey I was 15. hahah But hey I got to drop my first tranni.
