greese & grime

Yeah, just some simple Engine Brite or Simple Green or something. I would just spray it on with a sprayer or the spray can and power wash it off. That's what I'm about to do to my engine bay.

yea dude get whatever's the cheapest at the local auto parts store apray everything, let it sit for a few minutes, then power wash everything. Just don't hold the wand real close to rubber boots, wiring, etc. and you'll be fine

If you're worried about water under the hood...

Something I found that works well on the engine is to buy a couple of large cans of WD40. Spray the engine down and drive to the do-it-yourself car wash. Spray the engine compartment down again with WD40, wait a couple of minutes and wash it all off. The WD40 is a decent solvent and if you spray a bunch on the distributor and other electrical stuff, it was developed to displace water. I've done it a bunch of times and it works great. I've never flooded the distributor (but I don't hit it with a lot of water)

Avoid using Simple Green on anything aluminum... your t-case comes to mind.

Why do you say this?

I use it on my Harley all the time and it doesn't do anything to the aluminum except make it shine.:cool1:
