I was referred to this site by a couple of guys over at Co4x4.org as i will soon be building a suburban.

Lookin at:

a '91
60 front with a detroit
14 rear with a detroit
cross over steering
4" lift (tuff country or BDS)
and running 37 or 38" tires.

I have some searching to do here before I start bombarding you with questions.

Cheers,

welcome aboard Bill! Sounds like you have a good build plan... if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Welcome to the board.

I agree, read all over the place. Sometimes a search yields so many answers, you have to do a little digging to find exactly what you are looking for.

Welcome to the site.

It always amazes me, I think that I have a problem or question that no one else could have possibly brought up before. I go ahead and do a search and sure enough, it's been covered before. There is quite a wealth of information on this site.

It was the opposite for me, some guys here told me about CO4x4.

Not long ago there was a bbc powered Sub on ebaid that is very close to that. Was white and in So.CA. Problem for me was getting the bbc past smog, so I passed. Truck was originally a tbi SBC.

sounds like my burb :D
I recomend taking off the trailer hitch unless you regularly tow( burbs have big ol butts that like to rub on everything.

cheak the burb forum too for other burb issues.

Thanks all!

I may have my Jeep sold by next week which will allow me to start purchasing for the build.

Budget will be $7,500 and it will be adhered to under penalty of worse than death at the hand of my wife.

So if anyone has the hook-ups for the following please let me know. I will be, and already am, scouring the internet myself.

91 Suburban (preferably manual Tranny) (will not pay more than $1000)

Dana 60 Front

Dana 60 gearset and master install (havent decided on ratio yet)

detroit for Dana 60

14 bolt rear

14b gearset and master install

detroit for 14b

37-40" tires and wheels

Crossover steering

hydro assist

4" springs and normal suspension goodies. (Anyone have BDS pricing?)

This is actually gonna be a summer-build, so I can afford to be patient and wait for ther deals to come.

I plan on bobtailing the rear end as much as possible to help with the departure angle issues. Also the front will be narrrowed as much as i can. i have no fear of the sawzall, and actually want to try to learn to do sheetmetal work ;-p

Cheers,

Bill

Too bad I don't know Denver metro well. We were kinda lost in the northern parts of town and I saw a "rough" 3/4ton suburban for sale. It looked solid, needing TLC. Not that I saw a price on it anyways.
