So, the truck is primed, except, for the hood. I have one pic of the exterior and not many of the Interior. I have since stripped the interior, which from what I could see, was all stock. As soon as I can figure out how to post pics, I will upload all the rust you wanna see, lol. On a more serious note, I am about to cut out the old tailgate pan and replace it with a new one. Any tips would be nice.

My tip is to keep posting. There’s a minimum post limit to get the pictures to post!

I am sure a lot of you gents have made the ls swap. I want to retain the factory engine, but, the lack of horsepower is saddening. Anyone running the 5.7 with mods have any advice?

It’s really a matter of budget
Several years back I got to a roller cammed aluminum headed, injected 350…

The factory cams are anemic, and the intake and exhaust systems are restrictive

What has been done to the engine so far?

The engine is stock. Has the typical leaks and a cracked exhaust manifold, so, I will be pulling it for a rebuild or a swap.

A vortec swap from a later model truck ( 96-99) is a good boost in hp over stock.

Don’t think I am there yet. I don’t see an option for posting pictures yet.

Should have an attach files button

It’s a spam defense. If you decide to Spock around, the $30 membership is worth it. Unlocks all the pictures and the other half of the forum

What kind of budget do you have for engine stuff?

I apologize, was trying to tear off the rear bumper. Haven’t really thought about it much. I just know the stock engine is underpowered.

Yeah they are pretty lame.
do work, we can talk engine later

Well, I have the tailgate pan assembly and the rear. Floor pans to close what, appears to be, the worst of the cancer on the blazer. Any recommendations On blocking or bracing before cutting The assembly out. I have seen some people on , YouTube of course, only cut and remove the top half of the assembly. My intentions are to replace then entire section.

Afternoon gents. I was told the blazer I have has a 5.7. Upon further inspection the factory emissions tag says it’s a 5.0. I am going to have to pull the breather off and take a look at the numbers on the rear of the engine. From what I have been reading it will probably cost more to try and make some horse power than just buying a 5.7 and having it built.
