Ok so here is my go at a build log and its probably gonna be bad. So i bought this truck at the start of the school year when I was 17 I worked and saved up my money to buy it. So skip forward to a month or two ago I cracked my block. I do not know how I did it but I did so my baby is on hold for now. BasicallyView attachment 257347 everything I have done ive just figured out my self (Leaf Springs, Axle Gears, Motor Heads and up) I made sure the heads where on right before doing anything. But now im looking for a block and someone to help me rebuild the motor if I can't find anyone I guess ill have another learning experince.

Is the block for sure cracked?

There's a lot of good people on here who will help point you in the right direction. I wasn't much older than you when I joined this site, and it has led me to some great experiences, great friends, lots of money spent, and a lot of knowledge about useless Chevy trivia
 
how or why do you think the block is cracked? Is there a rod hanging out the side of the block?

Hmm I’d call that a good clue. Got some pictures of “good clue” somewhere :haha:

You ok with the idea of renting a picker from a parts house and pulling it?

I've have the head off saw it and I was able to clearly feel the crack
 
Do you have another 350 or are you looking for one?
 
Yeah I get that, but machine works isn’t cheap either. Priced that out yet?

And used engines for sale local? If you were closer, I have a used but usable short block

For the engine to be re-sleeved and balanced and everything 1.2k and I havent been able to find anything around me thats not worse off than what I have now
 
I would go pull a Vortec 350 that runs, and ship it to you for less than that. Theres got to be a running engine on CL that can swap in there for less than 1.2

Havent been able to find anything but I kinda wana keep the old carbed 350 and what not idk this is my current hold up on getting her running again I have a nice cam etc in it now id like to be able to put in whatever I get etc
 
A Vortec will swap in with the correct intake and an in line or in tank fuel pump. May be worth it to look around and do some research, be surprised what can fit .

I think im just going to lay down and cry for a bit first I mean hey if you can find anything cheap and if shipping wont be that bad let me know
 
More specs on the rig! Sounds like a fun project
