Grey Goose

Yeah I would get heat shield for your wires. Also a starter heat shield. I had a header setup like that back in high school and the starter would heat soak after driving a while and then not crank until it cooled down. You might experience the same issue.

Would it be a good Idea to wrap my headers wires and get a starter heat shield?

Yeah you could wrap just the header pipes by the starter. Not sure how well it will help. I've only used heat wrap on diesels and it seems to help.

In bound!

I agree. That flange is going to get hot where you have them.

Okay guys I had the truck running but its down a cylinder firing order is correct what could it be I have new plugs could it be plugs, plug wires or timing?

First thing I would do is set the crank to TDC. Then start confirming from there. Is the cam right? Does the rotor point to #1 on distributor and does that connect to #1’s plug. Then confirm the rest of the wires go to correct cylinder.

Yep confirm the firing order and wires are correct. Super easy to get one out of whack

Make sure rockers are adjusted right, plugs correct, wires on all terminals

Makes sure it’s full charged as well

Out of whack timing can definitely cause issues as well.

Okay motor is running and everything hooked swapped to acdelco plugs with a .10 larger gap and it fixed the issue one small problem my brakes
1. When the truck is off and i pump the brakes it build pressure
2. I bled the fronts after putting new calipers on which didnt fix the issue
3. when i turn the truck on the peddle just goes straight to the floor
4. I did new metal lines in the front and the like rubberish ones down to the caliper from the metal lines do I need to bleed the abs and if so how

this is the last thing I need I fixed before my truck can be driven on the street again. I fixed all my lights and everything any help would be great

I think you’ve still got some air in the lines somewhere or the master cylinder is bad. This assuming you are certain there is no fluid leaking out on the ground when you press the pedal.

This is a decent video on brake bleeding.
Don’t leave the funnel sitting in the master cylinder like they did because if you do it will blow fluid out when you press the pedal. Also you will need to refill after about 3 bleed cycles. If the master cylinder gets low you will get air back in the line and have to start over.

Edit: you need to close the lid on the master cylinder between bleeding cycles.

And this truck would not be abs unless you wired in some fun stuff and didn’t tell us

Yeah make sure to bleed it out really well especially if you replaced the master. And make sure your calipers have the bleeders at the top side and not backwards with them at the bottom.

When I get home from class I’ll try bleeding them again with my dad but I’ll get a Video of my year long project running

So the truck isn’t done I have a lot I still want to do to it like crossover steering a shackle flip etc and I have the trans shifting a lot better than before hardly any hang up not in over drive but I’m over drive it bogs and if u hit the gas it floods out unless u wait 2 or 3 minutes after the 2nd to 3rd shift to do it but I want to get the cosmetic part of the build on the way and I need some help and suggestions

Should I do my blacked out build and keep chrome trim or murder it out let me get yalls thoughts

I think some chrome could be strategically placed on that blacked out truck and look just as good with or without chrome.
I think either truck would look better with the wheels from the blacked out truck.
I think the second truck would look better with a different set of wheels because for me those wheels and the body side molding clash.
If I'm going to keep the nostalgic look of the body side molding I'd probably like either a factory rally wheel or something aftermarket that makes you say "did those wheels come factory on that truck?"
It really depends on your taste and preference.
Do you want a totally custom look or do you want something more like "mostly original with some mild accents" that keep some nostalgia?
Either way can look awesome as long as all of the accents go together.
