Grinding 205 shift rails...

I remember reading somewhere that once you mod the shift rail you cannot use a single shifter anymore.

I'm rebuilding an 205 right now, but I want to keep it as a single shifter for now. Can I do the shift rail modification, and still keep the shifter?

Do it all now, or pull your case out later. The choice is yours. Modded rails really don't work well with the single shifter.
