grit blasted & Zink coated my 14ff pics

I grit blasted and Zink coated my 14ff, well actually our sprayer did the Zink coating. this will keep my axle from ever rusting again, except where it will get rock rashed. then i will just touch it up with paint from time to time if i want. these are in the grit booth, before and after grit. not Zinked yet.

zink coated and painted. looks almost like grit blasted surface but its coated.

That looks AWESOME!!!! it makes me want to rethink just throwing the old rusty/greasy 14bolt on without cleaning it up a little.

does the zinc coating act like powder coat as far as durability and cost? also how is the zinc applied to the material? never seen the process done before so im kinda curious. axle looks good by the way.

the pics of the guy spraying it is how its applied, its wire fed flame spray or plasma coating. its WAY more durable then powdercoat. to remove it by grit blast would be tough, probably doable but tough, would take a LONG time. grinding by hand would take along time too. either way would not be worth the trouble. we romove coatings like this by submersion is cyanide acids, nitric acids hydro-cloric acids among others. this process is alot more expensive then powdercoat too. thanks for the props. its the perks of the job my boss alows me to use the process for my own personal use, i do most stuff on my own time but he will allow spraying on company time so the experienced sprayers can do it.
