guess what you think it is before I pull the oil pan....

So the blazer has developed a squeaky knock sound lol. It happened after being revved pretty hard pulling out my tractor....

To me it sounds like there’s 2 noises - the squeaky sound and a deep knock.

I’d pull the belts off and run it, the squeak seems like either a front accessory or maybe the flywheel touching the cover or something.

The deep knock, well....

I did take the belt off. No change...

I used my stethoscope and the squeak is coming from inside the oil pan best i can tell.

funny thing is that oil pressure is still good...

I just went back and looked at the description of your motor again, gonna suck if it’s hurt.

Spun rod bearing is my guess. I'd drop the oil and filter, and cut the filter open. See how much glitter is in there...then go further from there.

I need to update my signature.

i popped that engine a year or two ago. Needless to say it didn’t like hitting 8000 rpm. It had seen 7500 many times. A rod let loose, broke the crank, disintegrated a piston, ruined both heads, etc. only a few things survived, carb, intake, and rocker arms . Very costly mistake. I should have had a rev limiter on that engine....

This engine was in a parts truck I bought. Has edelbrock intake, rv cam, and a billet distributor. Pretty close to stock. I got tired of replacing expensive engines. I swamped 2 other engines in a creek... i still haven’t built a snorkel lol.

I've had a spun rod bearing make a squeak and knock sound. Not always in perfect rhythm because the bearing pieces are moving around.

I'd agree it sounds like a spun bearing...it can still have good oil pressure because the wear isn't between the bearing and crank journal,it is the bearing rubbing on the block or rod that makes the squeaking..

I've heard a front pump bushing in a TH350 made similar noises also..

One of my friends had a low mileage Mr.Goodrench new engine that never seemed to have much power --it didn't smoke, burn oil,or make any weird noises until one day after a cold start he had similar squeaking, which would go away after it warmed up almost completely..

One day he decided to take the engine out after he took the truck apart for a frame off restoration (it was a '72 K20 ),and he pulled the oil pan off and saw metal filings--he took the rod & main bearing out and found 4 of the rod bearings and one main had spun!..crank was still smooth as a mirror too,no scoring on the journals..

I've heard a few cam lobes wipe out that squeak like that. But the knock is bottom end.

A lot of y’all guessed right.

spun a few rod bearings. And it looks like the crank is fairly scorn. I’m going to try some emory cloth and see if i can get it out if not I guess it’s time for a rebuild after i save some cash... maybe throw some cheap ebay turbos on it too

How much glitter was in the oil and filter? That stuff will murder whatever is left of your engine, and really can only be fully removed by hot tanking it

I used to use magnetic drain plugs and was always horrified at the amount of metal "fuzz" that came out stuck to them when I drained the oil to change it..
Strangely enough none of those engines ever burnt oil or "blew up",or spun bearings,I guessed it was cam lobes or some other less critical part..

That sucks it was spun rod bearings..hate to be negative, but I've only seen a crank that has any scoring polished out with emery cloth have any success lasting with new bearings, last a few weeks of daily driving at best....you may as well yank the engine out and do it right the first time..:(

I’m to the point that if I pull the engine I pretty much just wanna go ls swap... I’ve went through 5 engines so far in the blazer. 3 of them built fairly healthy. Too much liquid courage and i blow them up lol.

I’m tired of pulling engines lol. I really wish I could throw some bearings in it and go, but after seeing the condition of the crank I’m not so sure

if i go ls i get the benefit of fuel injection and it is a much better platform to build from.

Think how much you could save using a rev limiter, and maybe not wheelin while shit-faced...

The LS platform is good, but it isn't immune to being over-revved and spinning bearings either. It sounds like you're trying to fix the wrong end of the problem.
