So over half of the bearings were spun. And about 3 rod caps barely came off. They won’t even go back on by hand.
so I’m thinking about the root cause analysis.
alcohol, high mileage, over revving, weak rod bolts, and I’m sure a few other things contributed.
So in the events leading up to the failure were. Too much alcohol consumption led to inadequate throttle control, then that led to the rod bolts stretching. That killed the engine by allowing bearings to spin lol.
Steps to take to keep from happening again. INSTALL REV LIMITER, possibly hold back on alcohol consumption (very doubtful this will happen).
I’m searching for a used 5.3 or 4.8 now.... I doubt I can save this engine without it going to the machine shop....
