Hey All,

I know I've seen it before but for some reason can't find much info on it right now. I'm thinking of replacing the studs on my 12 bolt H1's that are used to bolt the two rims halfs together with bolts and nuts instead of the normal studs that are pressed into the inner rim. Does anyone know what size bolts are used for this?

Thanks!

I don't know the size but I believe juanblazer (?) did this with button head bolts. His posts may be too old to find here, he also posted on pirate too.

Yeah they are 1/2x20 and just weld the head to the back of the wheel a little and it's like it never happened. Como new.

Why use bolts? The nice thing about the knurled stud is you can replace a broken one on the trail. If you weld bolt heads, you would need air and a die grinder or something. Without the bolt heads welded, it seems like running all the nuts down would be a hassle, going around and around in the pattern.

I bought like a whole set of used take-out studs and nuts from somebody on here a while back because I was breaking them. After the first couple years on H1s, no more broke. Of course the nuts could be re-used....if you had any idea where they were.
