so, last yr, I had to make a decision being down to 2 bats and a 1/2" drill in my makita LXT stuff.. and decided to see the fuss over waukee fuel, etc... got in with a 1/2" impact, drill and fan...charger and 1 bat.. ended up with a second charger and bat free..

couple weeks ago being the depot balance was nada,, I decided to aid my decrepit body with some help in the torture bilges, and delved into some M12 stuff... :pimp1:

my chargers already do them, sooo... did a 2 pack of the compact 3.0's and 6.0 big bat.. the rover light (can never have enough lights "in the hole"), the 3/8" standard length ratchet.. and the 1/4" right angle die grinder, for roloc work... i also popped for the the cheapest bluetoof radio for some mental sanity in the boats..

the 3/8 ratchet is a game changer... earned it's keep 3 days after being put in service... haven't put the die grinder to the coals yet..

I don't foresee getting much else in my advanced state of trainwreck, but.. the only other things i'd be looking at down the road are maybe a 3/8" impact, right angle drill or angle grinder.

don't need a grease gun, tire inflator, etc...

soooo, who be the waukee, pack-out, etc junkies in here? :haha:

 I definitely don’t :1zhelp:

trust me, I didn't want to.. but as a pro wrench, I need to occasionally invest in my 8 to 4:30 ;)

I'd rather be buying an NV4500... in due time...
I was trying to be sarcastic haha. I have it so bad, I had to buy another tool box to hold them all…

I'm a Dewalt guy.

Everyone I know and work with was already Dewalt when I got into it. Just easier to all have the same, plus our local feed store chain (Bomgaars) is a big Dewalt dealer. They have started to carry a lot of Milwaukee though, and the lumber yard switched from selling Dewalt to Milwaukee, so I can get stuff local.

Yup you tax deduct new batteries every year at minimum

i used to claim a ton back in the day from my Snappy expenditures.. do the long form, get like 25 hunge back... not in a decade or so tho...

hehe, it's like car brands.. ;) like when i switched from coughmoparcough to the king of the boneyard in my mid 20's... all the parts ya have/had, become pretty useless... I ended up giving away a built BB 727 trans I had cuz i got tired of lugging it around when I was now building chebs. :haha:

I should follow that up with, while i haven't owned Dewalt, I've used plenty over the yrs, either shop equip, fellow workers, etc and don't have any quables with them.. i "think" the only questionable thing I've heard about them is bat life.. but I guess that could be said for any of them..

20 yrs ago my Snappy 18v impact bats sucked.. the gun was sick.. the bats where a nightmare..

I actually hear that the Rigid impact is one of the better ones out there these days.. and i do see some u-toobers using them.. how, not "homeowner" of them... :haha:

Another thing that holds me back from switching, is that the Milwaukee fan boys are unbearable. Is it better than Dewalt? Probably. Does my Dewalt work just fine? Yes.

Martin
I have a coworker that is so bad, he even replaced all his screwdrivers and socket sets. Basically if it ain’t red, he don’t want it. I give him a really hard time a lot haha.

and yeah, i get that... i actually joined a wookie group on FB.. they're annoying..

They remind me of the anti-Snap On guys.

Martin

i see you in there.. ;) yeah, thats a losing battle these days.. i try to keep my mouth shut... and while somewhat justified, I don't think they understand where the other side is coming from.. compare a 3/4" drive Snappy socket to the HF, and get back to me... ;)

Yeah, Snap On's prices are ridiculous. That being said, they are better. It's the people who say they are not better that drive me nuts. Go ahead and complain about the crazy prices.

The m12 ratchet and 3/8” stubby impact are my go to’s for anything. Dang near nothing I can’t do with those two things. And the m12 soldering iron is an absolute game changer. I’ve been a die hard Dewalt guy for over a decade (still rocking their 1/4” impact and drill) but the Milwaukee stuff is awesome. Just wish I had enough justification for the 1/2” impact.

lug nuts and head bolts for me.. but i would really like a 3/8 for pulling/installing outdrives on the stern drives.. the 1/2 is a bit bulky for it.. I don't solder enough anymore, but I am curious to go look at that...

my lone makita drill, 2 bats.. and THREE chargers (2 free)..... :haha: have all been relegated to a retired homeowner status... paid it's dues.. ;)
