had to make the move...

i ended up with 2 of the best cordless dremels... my issue with them is, it's dainty work.. and tooling is expensive and not durable.... they don't get used much...
My wife burned up her cordless Dremel this past weekend, and we bought a Milwaukee version in M12. So there is that option.

i just meant any work done in 1/8 format is dainty... I don't have an issue with the dremels, they seem to be quality.... with 2, they'll outlive me... a few of my youtubers run the wookie versions and like them apparently..

the one job i do use them for a few times a yr is cleaning injector bores in the manifolds in the boats... the little cup brushes work great for that... but it's rare I'd need one in the LAB™...

I would have to stop and think what I all have. Just 20 volt stuff, gave my remaining 18 volt stuff to my old man who still uses 18 volt.

1/2" impact
1/2" hammer drill
1/2" hammer drill
1/4" impact driver
1/4" impact driver
1/4" impact driver
1/4" impact driver
right angle drill
sawzall
sawzall
circular saw
oscillating tool
angle grinder
radio
flashlight
grease gun
weed trimmer

I'm sure I am forgetting something

I think it would be easier for me to make a list of what I don’t have.

I have too much dewalt to switch now. But ive always felt the Milwaukee was better quality (and usually heavier!)

years ago our shop tools were stolen, shortly after my tools were stolen, and then one of our installers broke his drill and started talking about buying new tool sets - i told him to pick a brand, buy what he wants, and i would make sure my replacements and the shop tools all matched for battery compatibility.

he said dewalt. i said ok. he showed me a 20V tool set and some individual tools he wanted...

I went and dropped a few grand- shop dropped a few grand. everything was shiny and yellow -sky was blue, birds were chirping, boobies were firm, men were men, sheep were scared...

aaaand the installer who shall not be named showed up on a jobsite with 12 volt tools. DAMN YOU RUSS.

prior to dewalt i had the Milwaukee 18V with the batteries that could be flipped around backward on all the tools to get them out of the way - that was freeaking fantastic.

I had a Dewalt 20V impact given to me. Just had to get a battery. Then my dad was looking at buying one. I looked at Home Depot and the Rigid was on sale, so I bought one for him and one for me.

Oldest got to use the new 1/2" mid torque FUEL impact to rotate Momma's tires this evening. It's a nice upgrade from the brushed one I had before it. A lot lighter and 200lb-ft more duggas.

Yea the addiction is real. I have it. Can’t shake it. They ride in work truck and get used about daily at least one of them.9C585E16-AA3D-438F-8969-F866265A71BB.jpeg

the freakin fan??? for a marine mechanic in frying pans all day? ;)
I work for offshore crew boat company. At docks and in shipyards. Due to your review its next on list. Come on payday.

You need 2 tool bags.

I resisted most cordless tools, except for a 3/8 drill.
I had/have the original Makita 9.6v drill and flash light. It was a good tool little on the weak side, but 1980s tech.
Some time in the 2000s got a 12v DeWalt 3/8 total pos, never lasted long enough to finish even small jobs. Few years later Home Depot had a 18v 10mm chuck on sale I was leary, but bought it was remodeling my kitchen and would know if we're good or not in short order. Was a decent tool, lasted 8 9 years, original 2 batteries, burgers smoked just last year.
So couple years ago I wanted a cordless yard blower.
Shopped around read some reviews and bought a Makita blower with 5.25" angle grinder, this my favorite tool. Since those 2 3/8 impact 10mm drill, and combo 3/8 1/4 ratchet all 18v.

Haven't warmed up to the rachet yet, little bulky, and I have warn out a 3/8 drive air ratchet 1 a year For about the last 38 years.
I travel with the electric in the truck, at king of the hammers one year I sliced open the rear bumper and installed an LED back up lamp. Took an hour start to finish. Love that grind, nothing is safe from those thing thou.

I should follow that up with, while i haven't owned Dewalt, I've used plenty over the yrs, either shop equip, fellow workers, etc and don't have any quables with them.. i "think" the only questionable thing I've heard about them is bat life.. but I guess that could be said for any of them..

20 yrs ago my Snappy 18v impact bats sucked.. the gun was sick.. the bats where a nightmare..

I actually hear that the Rigid impact is one of the better ones out there these days.. and i do see some u-toobers using them.. how, not "homeowner" of them... :haha:
I do love my rigid impact, as well as all the rigid tools.
I believe, just like Martin, that it might not be as good as the Milwaukee or the makita, but it works for me and I am spending way less

All this tool talk reminded me why I haven’t finished my baseboards. No longer have an excuse.

I used one of these last week and I am buying one now.
Actually is this a finish nailer or framing?
I am getting the framing nailer now.
Might also get the finish nailer if a sell some more cars or parts

i really should have one their vacs on my "possible" list for in the boats... i've seen the 18, but haven't looked at the 12... sucks lugging the big corded ones up in the boats..

always need a dustbuster kind of gig in the boats when finishing up... well, that or I'm wet-vaccing gallons out of a bilge! :haha:
