first time since my surgery i could use my hands so i half made the access panel I am going to use to get the sending unit easier than dropping the tank.

I plan on rounding the edge of it and cutting off the lip that's on it. but i think it will work out pretty good.

I didn't Finnish because of a hornet that decided to attack me and found out carb spray sucks for him.:D

I had to spray some wasps too, when I was working on my van--the louvers over the rear windows was full of nests,so was the front door jambs..

I used brake cleaner ,but that doesn't drop them in mid air like carb cleaner does,I learned the hard way..but I managed not to get stung..
(note to self --BUY MORE CARB CLEANER!)..
I use that more often than hornet spray,it works 100 times faster..

Oh yeah..Brake cleaner and plastic window louvers dont like each other much..
They didn't melt, but it did make them glossy in spots, and probably would melt them had I sprayed more on them..I used the shop vac to suck up the nests and stragglers..
I hate wasps..almost as much as these spiders I have everywhere..:yikes:

I prefer air saw myself but your option for electric version should work with decent blades. Also I use drill bit to get saw started in corners.

ya i was planing on drilling to start but ill look into the air version...

Yeah that is what I use just a Matco version. Remember to use smaller blades, easier to turn and don't just use middle of blade use it all. I will be watching this like the idea.

I completely agree with using a saw instead of a grinder, but it seems most folks here have used the grinder with a cutoff wheel of some kind.
The downside of the saw, is the short distance between the bed and the tank.
If I was doing it, I would use a metal cutting saber saw with a board under it to limit the distance it would reach into the bed.

I'm sure you have seen this before, I have linked to it so many times, pretty much everybody is tired of seeing it.
But, one more time........

thats one of the good things about a 2 inch body lift is there is that much room between the tank and the bed, plus i dont like the idea of all the sparks that close to the tank

if you want some help let me know, we can drop the tank to change it if you want. I have a shop right down the street from you and across 1585. we can put it in there and work on it if you would like.

the reason i am making an access is this is the 3rd one to go out. The hitch, bumper and skid plate all have to come off to get to the tank. i can always use flat stock and reinforce the panel to get the strength back. Thanks for the offer. same for you if you need an extra hand let me know im down the road.
