HAPPY HAPPY :) Good mileage with truck

I get around 15 mpg with a carbed 350 3inch lift 3.73s and 35s. I was getting under 10 and then I added a small cam and ditched the 750 holley for a good q-jet. I think that doubled my power and gas mileage:D

Go have your speedo calibrated now. There is no way you're getting that mileage with a carb and that gear/tire combo.

my speedo doesnt work:D

That is just an estimate going by the miles I drive each week and how much gas I use. Its a 15 mile round trip to work each day, seven days a week, plus whatever other driving I do throughout the week. on an average week Ill burn about 10 gallons. If you figure up just driving to work thats 10.5 mpg and I drive up the road for lunch every day. its just an estimated guess and I know its not accurate.

I paid $2.57 this past Sat to fill up mine. Still sucks I wish it would be at least $1.99 again. Diesel is a little over $3 here now....not sure the swap is worth it if its gonna stay .50 more.
Diesel prices move slower than gasoline. When gas jumps up and down diesel remains stable. Unfortunately right now it's at the price it moved to when gasoline went up last spring/summer and now has dropped from. If gas stays these "lower" prices diesel will drop back down.
I know its off topic, but is ULSD gonna be more expensive when they switch???
Ummmm...cough...uh...ULSD has been out for over a year now...;)

i get between 13 and 14 with 37's, 4:10's TBI 350, turbo 350, 205 and 7 inches lift, obnoxious cage and heavy bumpers and nerf's. Mileage is using roadsigns and mileposts since speedo might be alittle off

I used to get 4 with my edelbrock and my 74 blazer got 3.5 if you were nice to it with the holley.

I stand corrected.

Ultra-low sulfur diesel was proposed by EPA as a new standard for the sulfur content in on-road diesel fuel sold in the United States since October 15, 2006, except for rural Alaska. California required it since September 1, 2006, and rural Alaska will transition all diesel to ULSD in 2010. This new regulation applies to all diesel fuel, diesel fuel additives and distillate fuels blended with diesel for on-road use, such as kerosene, however, it does not yet apply to train locomotives, marine, or off road uses. By December 1, 2010, all highway diesel will be ULSD. Non-road diesel will transition to 500 ppm sulfur in 2007, and to ULSD in 2010. Locomotive and marine diesel will also transition to 500 ppm sulfur in 2007, and to ULSD in 2012. There are exemptions for small refiners of nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel that allow for 500 ppm diesel to remain in the system until 2014. After December 1, 2014 all highway, nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel produced and imported will be ULSD.
The EPA mandated the use of ULSD fuel in model year 2007 and newer highway diesel fuel engines equipped with advanced emission control systems that require the new fuel. These advanced emission control technologies will be required for marine diesel engines in 2014 and for locomotives in 2015.
The allowable sulfur content for ULSD (15 ppm) is much lower than the previous U.S. on-highway standard for low sulfur diesel (LSD, 500 ppm), which not only reduces emissions of sulfur compounds (blamed for acid rain), but also allows advanced emission control systems to be fitted that would otherwise be poisoned by these compounds. These systems can greatly reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen and particulates.

The only thing I ever put diesel in is our 38' Penn Bay lobster boat with a C12 Cat here at work. ULSD is coming later on for marine use. Hope it goes okay, we have all sorts of fuel filtering issues with this boat.

reducing sulfur will make it worse.. sulfur is what keeps bacteria fungus and yeast in check..

trust me, there's movement afoot to reduce sulfur in marine and locomotive applications a whole lot sooner than 2012, but since you're having troubles now, we should talk.. post up an email, or buy a membership so's I can PM ya:D

buy a membership anyway, even if you plan to ignore me..it's the best 25 bucks you'll spend..

Ya know I have never joined 'cause I seem to go in spurts looking at this site, but I seem to check in everyday lately so I'll take your advice and join up tomorrow. Sucks I was a member of this site back around '00 when it was free, should have maintained that membership probably grandfathered all those members???

That sucks ULSD will be worse. We have wicked algae problems with this boat as it is. Boat was finished in '05 and I think we have had tanks pumped and filtered half a dozen times, including last week. When its at its worst we get about only 10 hours on a 20 mic racor!!!! You haven't lived until you've had a 26' tall boat die while waiting for a bridge lift in a running tide......thank god the anchor caught!!!!:o

Stock 5.7 w/ headers, dual exhaust, Jet 6-pack,4.56,37" Economy mode 14+ on the highway, Stage 2 perf. 10-12 with a heavy foot. Oh yeah, BTO stage-2 700r4. 241 t-case

Exactly how many is "almost" miles to the gallon?

it's whatever distance you have to bs into sounding like a mile, so you can state mpg numbers in the double digits :haha::doah:.

What the heck is a 502 BBC???

a gas guzzler (454) that got even hungrier. ususally from being bored out, i think. but, i've seen some crate 502s with only a 4" bore but a huge stroke.
