Exactly how many is "almost" miles to the gallon?

I used to get about 18 with my K5 with a 4" on 36" swampers w/ 4.88 geared 3/4 tons, a 700R4 and a TBI 350. :D

Man I wish I got close to either of those amounts. I get 9 or 10 with my '77 K20, 4.10s, 33" SSRs, sm465, 355 with 600 eddy carb/intake, headers, flat tops, mild cam, electric fan, etc.

Anyone tell me how to get near 13 or 14 with this thing? I got a '91 burban parts truck with a 6.2 I was thinking about swapping in for milege, but recent high diesel prices and lack of power compared to my 350 has me second guessing.

I know one thing I will be doing to help get the revs down is swap on something in the 35" to 37" range for tires.

When I drove a carbretarded '86 K10 back in high school I got 12 mpg at best with the 350 I dropped in and the edelbrock intake/650carb. I even had the "rare" aluminum 4 speed OD transmission in it and only ran 30x9.50 tires with 3.42 gears.

I probably only get about 10-13 now that I'm pushing 44" tires, though my rig does weigh less now than it did when it was stock and I haven't calibrated actual milage because I'm afraid to drive it on the street.

Mileage  about 9 mpg going down hill with a tail wind. built engine heavy tires and the aerodynamics of a brick don't get you good numbers, the local gas station loves me though.

Mileage was GPS verified or the speedometer is confirmed dead on?

Just confirming, I know some people think they are getting much worse or better than they are, and don't take into account all the modifications that affect the MPG calculation.

15ish. That was with the 34-35" tall tires. Hopefully a bit better with the 37" tall tires.

Gotta love diesels...that's with no OD.:D

I get 12-13 in mine. '91 350 tbi, 4" w/ 35's. My '79 K20 w/ a mild cam,stock carb, headers, 4" w/ 35's gets 9-10 mpg. I also have a fairly heavy foot.:D

23 highway in my diesel

14 highway in my Burb

30 highway in my (wife's) Pontiac

my 1978 Blazer With a 350 TH350 4.56 gears and 33's, headers, and a mild cam avarages 9MPG on the highway i probaly get 12-13. The city I have no idea but its horrible. Worst milage with the truck 4MPG and best probaly 14-15MPG

I get about 11 or 12. Thats with a 82 c10 long bed, stock 350, built 700r4, 3.08's and 31's.

In my Burb I get about 10, that is while driving VERY VERY light footed. Glad it's not my daily driver. :D

for now my blazer is my daily driver, it aint cheap. but at least gas prices went down a little i filled the truck up for $2.70 a gallon

My 89 blazer with 8" lift, 350TBI/700R4/4.56's/35's with a calibrated speedo gets between 8 1/2 - 9 1/2 mpg with mostly city driving and about 60 miles of it freeway. Basically i drive 240-250 miles before a fill up which usually takes between 27-28 gallons.

According to my speedo i get 11 mpg...it reads faster than im going so like 9.5-10 ish...with 3.37s 33's th400, gm perf 350 edelbrock air-gap and 600carb, msd 6a.

K5 w/ 37s gets 10-12, and it's injected

The 77 p/u does real well, 12-13 in town and 14-18 on the highway, depending on what speed I run. Carbed, but has Alum intake, 461 heads....

Wifes car, 42, 48 if I drive it. But don't pull in front of a semi, bastard will get you killed. Four squirrels are not enough to elude Kenworths..

91 all stock k5 i average about 15.... Can get up to 18... thats with 31's and 3.08 ill be goin to 33's and 3.08 soon not sure what to expect

I just paid $3.09 a gallon yesterday.

I paid $2.57 this past Sat to fill up mine. Still sucks I wish it would be at least $1.99 again. Diesel is a little over $3 here now....not sure the swap is worth it if its gonna stay .50 more.

I know its off topic, but is ULSD gonna be more expensive when they switch???
