Hard Thud Sound when Tranny shifts

Once again I'm posting about my '87 CK5 Silverado which I just recently had a 700r4 tranny put by a friend and it sure shifts hard after acceleration...so I'm assuming it's 1st gear that I'm hearing when it shift's and its gives off a good thud sound. What could be the cause of this? My tranny oil level is fine and it also does when it shifts down...

I would start by checking the TV cable adjustment.

Is it new or used? Does it have a shift kit?

I'm thinking that is the problem,..the TV cable not being adjusted right when the used tranny was put back in. Is it something that has to be adjusted by a certified mechanic or can I crawl underneath and adjust it?

It's on the back of the engine, and yes you can adjust it. Google TV Cable adjustment and you should get a lot of returns.
