By doing it the way I do you end up with a cap that unthreads to drain the oil and a replacable fiiting should the threads ever get bunged up rather than having bunged threads in the pan.
+ the AN fittings seal with very little torque.

One more thing, for what you're doing you'll have to remove the rubber o-ring and replace it with a copper washer/gasket or some other hard gasket material.

Sometimes these fitting come with a metal washer to allow the use of the O-ring w/o a o-ring gland. The OD of the o-ring fits the ID of the washer and the washer forms a half-ass o-ring gland. If you don't get the little washer thing with the fitting use a hard gasket material and toss the O-ring. Personally, I would toss the o-ring anyway.
