that thing says '4 pins to secure', so am I guessing that it doesn't use hinges ? you have to take it all the way off when you want to get in the engine compartment ?

i dont think so look at the last pic it has 4 hood pins in the front, probably because the fiberglass is week and if the wind caught it it might crack.


but nothing is stopping you from makeing it full removable, or even you hood now, pins wont cost you 20$ pull the hinges and the latch drill 4 holes and your done

cool. Yeah I'd rather have it on hinges, it would be a pain the butt to have to get someone to help you take the hood off everytime you needed to check the oil.

It's fiberglass; why would you need a buddy?

Mind you, I think I'm just gonna remove my hoods from now on, as I seem to spend all my time putting them up and down. Grumble.

just because its fiber glass dosent mean its not heavy. it has a fiber glass cross member section in the bottom, and it dose have hinge brackets on it for the back it even has a mounting spot for the hood latch. But you have to cut down the lock thing's threads as it is too long. No pics right now but I can get some this weekend to show you what the under side looks like.( If you want

It definatly takes too to put it on and take it off. It is not as heavy as the stock hood but its too much to handle by your self. I do beleive that a 82-89 hood is lighter than this one is. Mine is mounted to the hinges but I dont run springs. If I could come up with some of those lighter tension spings They used to make.(not sure if the still do) It would work great.

You could use a couple of those lift shocks that you see on the newer truck hoods or hatchbacks. You'd just need to fab a couple brackets and mount them in the approriate place.
