Has anyone added a digital tach in the clock opening?

Looking at a doing something like this. I have never been fond of the massive tach on the dash or anywhere for that matter. I am not racing, just would like too know where the engine runs.

When the valves float, I back off a little.

I have not done it but sounds like a good idear. That is a good link on gauges. Decent prices and look like good gauges.

I was looking at those also. But wanted to use a useless hole in my panel. And the space above my controls is the A/C vent.

KTM how do you go about opening the hole to fit the gauge without butchering it up?

I want one in the Jimmy and the Blazer. Jimmy is cut already for the radio. The Blazer is too nice to cut up.

I put in a small analog tach in that spot. Had to shave out the back of the cluster but got it in there pretty good.

Sanding wheel on a Dremel seems best to me. Going slow, of course, and not at full 30k RPM

Here is the one in my Blazer (other one was in my old suburban).

Had to cut the back and also the clear lens so it looked flush with the other gauges.

It will be at least a couple of weeks out.i should probably fix the PS leak first. Have to fill it every 2 days.

I did remove the outer ring so just the glass was showing. Needed to get it up against the Bezel as close as possible. I also offset just a little bit due to the angle of vision.

Definitely have to cut out the back and cut out a section of the clear lens bezel, too.

I have had the same tack for years . 1 in plow truck and 1 was flushed in dash of old 2wd truck . still have it .
