Has anyone converted their 89 K5 with 87-88 headlights and grills

That^^. You can snake all the wires through it without cutting though. I didn't do the swap, but my core support was cracked so I replaced it. I'm not sure about the hood and fenders though. I like the stacked lights, and might do this myself someday.

Also, if your fenders can stay, you will need to flex them out a little to get the core in and out. I think I removed a few fender bolts to help with this.

I am wondering if the question is about putting the 4"x6" headlights in the '89 mini quad front. This way you could buy aftermarket headlight housings or go LED.

There is a thread quite a while back were someone was working on it.

Or his front end is messed up and the older clip is all he can find in Pakistan.

If you were in USA/Canada, I would say to just find somebody else who wants to swap to the newer style and arrange a day to swap parts. Because you're going in the wrong direction :ignore:

I have the 90 mini lights with replacement housings from LMC. I also filled them with after market LED bulbs. The pattern on the low beams isn't as nice as i'd like but its still the cheaper way to go. I think the 6054 bulbs in the strip model in truck lite led flavor are 3 bills a piece. The high beams have a better pattern. I have 2 Bosch high beam housings i have not swapped in yet as they require H4 bulbs as oppossed to the 9005/6 bulbs.
