My K5 came with an Edelbrock & it floods a little on angles. I know alot of guys have put the spring loaded needle & seat and an offroad kit on them. Just want to know how it worked out. People seem to like the Holley Avenger & Q-jet. Obviously TBI would be the best. I would like to use my carb if possible. Thanks for any input.

Its not a cure all , it can , and will stall when you don't want it to . I had borrowed one in 2001 for about a month when my original Q-Jet had leaky throttle shafts .

Couldn't deal with it any longer than a month . Bought another Q-jet , and haven't run nothing but Q-jets . Its not propane or injection , but it works .

These are the best mods you can do to an EDL carb:http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/carter.php
I have done all these to a AFB(better carb)/EDL carb they do work and will help a lot.Blocking the slosh between the bowls is the best thing you can do for those carbs. But it will never perform as good as a Q-Jet offroad..

I had an edelbrock once that ran d@mn good.

on the highway. one trip offroad and I gave it to a friend for his street truck. built a good q-jet and never looked back.

I have tuned a couple of edelbrocks to work dang good off road, the float has to be perfect and it has to have the off road kit in it. It takes alot of tinkering on the trail but if thats what you got it can be made to work, I much prefer a quadrajet though. better mileage than a square bore carb and they work better overall off road. The truck avenger does exactly what it claims to do, it seems once you get past those angles that they advertise they don't work so well, once again you can tune them to work but a quad is the best 4 barrel carb for off road use

Thunder that was a good link, thanks. Im going to try to build it that way to see if it'll work for me.

If that doesn't do the job anyone know if you loose any power with the q-jet? I don't know my CFM's but Im going to research my model number to find out.

Stormtrooper does pretty good with his Edelbrock. :wink1:

Sweet pics Dude!

I've never has luck with Edelbrock carbs, now their manifolds are better than stock for cheap, but the "Quadrajunk" is just great for me.
