Has anyone tried the reusable gasket?

Ive always used RTV black and never had a leak. Wirewheel both sides and apply a nice bead and tighten......but not over tighten.

I use lube locker gasket on my 60 and never had a problem. So nice to work on too without having to clean up right stuff every time. I have one for my 14 bolt just haven't put in yet.

Problem is, this is a 3rd member. Not just a cover. Bother has worked great. Just ok. Everything seems to seep.

:laugh:That's what I thought we were talking about:laugh: I use a fat ole bead. Maybe you are over tightening???? Make sure surfaces are totally clean. Use paint thinner or brake clean. Something is blocking the sealing abilities of the product.

Right stuff leaks? Never heard of it leaking lol

The worst I've had yet. I cleaned it to new. Applied right stuff. Placed 3rd member and ran nuts on finger tight. Let sit for 24 hours. Then tightened and filled. Was leaking the next day. Just getting worse.

I need to be able to seal it this time and not have to wait to fill it.

I've never had a problem with right stuff. Just lay a bead, tighten down, fill.

I've even checked to make sure the surfaces are straight. And with the rearend trussed and made of 1/4 steel, I doubt it's flexing.

Ive NEVER let right stuff set up before tightening. I always put it on. And tighten right then. Fill half hour to an hour later and nver had anything leak. Put a thermostat housing on a dodge raider at the dunes that broke one of the 2 bolts cuz my bufdy took the thermostat out becausr it wasnt working. Gobbed a ton on and tightened the one bolt. He left it that way until he sold it a long while later abd it never leaked.

And how many things say what they really do. Most are bull. And I tried glueing two small pieces of metal together to test it. One hour later it fell apart and was not cured.

So what I am getting from this thread is, no one has used one of these rubber gaskets?

So when I se it agaIn, and it leaks I can shoot by your place at the beginning of July, (when I am up there) to fix it again?:D

The big deal is, I don't want it to leak on moms new driveway in 3 weeks. Plus it is the last leak I have.

Gm engine sealer,part#88861417. Best sealer I have ever used,it seals the valve covers and oil pan on a duramax, rearends are no sweat.
Clean it up real good, lay down a good bead and torque down the 3rd member. The only problem is will really hard to separate the 3rd member from the axle after it sets up.
