I won one today thru the GSA site. It's an '84 M1008. 67,000 miles, ex-military truck, used as a border patrol along Mexico, the diesel is bad and laying in the bed, everything else is there and complete. The truck ran til the motor went bad. The whole body is straight and rust free. I got the winning bid of only $500. I have my local transporter going to pick it up whenever I get all the paper work done with the GSA site.

My question is: how much work is involved with the government and GSA to do the paper work, etc.?

How do you get hooked up with the GSA site and auctions?

Click on gsaauctions.gov and register as a user. They have all sorts of junk and other odds and ends. There are always trucks and cars up for bidding.

How much does it cost to have "your local transporter" pick up a vehicle? I dont even know of anyone who picks up cars.

Those deals are drying up. I admit I have bought a bunch of these over the years. Now that the prices of most of these are sky high, and mostly done on the net with no chance of the killer deals we used to get, I will admit that I have gov reciepts for CUCV trucks I have bought within the last 2 years for $25 each. There are several K5 club members who have seen these! Last deal I got 7 CUCV trucks and Ambulances for $1,200 total.

You will get a Blue original and copy of the "Certificate to obtain Tital to a Vehicle" from the US Govt./GSA. All you do is take this to your car registration place and trade it for a state title. At least this is how it works in Texas. Takes about 5 minutes. (Not counting the time you stand in line.)

When you go to get it inspected, you will notice all they check is the lights, brakes, and tires and do a test drive. These vehicles are exempt from smog tests at least in Texas.

That is sweet at heck! Way to go on that find Wes! How else do you get a bad @ss rig for $500??? Mad I don't know how you lucky bastards get these deals! Maybe I can scrounge some parts off of it (if you part it out).

I scored an 84 through a GSA auction. Mine was a little steep but well worth it. I paid 3500 for mine. It had 52,000 miles on it and the body was in excellent shape. I wish I could say that now though. Good going.

How was the paper work and the process of going thru everything to get it?

Wes, how much is it going to cost to transport?

The hotshot driver in my town said, "no fee", since he wants me to work on his house. Do some drywall repair, painting, etc. Nothing big, just small job. He has to go down to Texas anyways, so, to pick up the truck would be no problem for him. BTW, we are pretty good friends, and I had him pick up the other two K30's before.

I looked at my paper of the truck I bid on and it shows "per lot 4". But when I reread it, that "4" symbol was the total number of bids, not the total number of trucks. Just the total of people who have bid. You may have been mistaken for 12 bids, not blazers.
